First climbing from the unrythmic northern side, and then ascending on one of the steady steep southern ramps, before going downhill a second time. At least it seems the finish won't be directly after the downhill, so some flat kilometers could create a bit of tactical GC drama.

Bocca di Forca + Grappa twice (different Sides of the climb, Strada degli Alpini and before that the Monte Tomba Side).

Grappa descent finish is still far less likely to block racing than the Fedaia MTF, let alone the godforsaken Lussari MTT. To me, the descent finish is great news, because a Grappa MTF would have been as bad an idea for stage 20 as the Fedaia MTF and it seemed more likely than this new rumour.

One ITT is balanced, especially if its on stage 10 - Six high mountain stages can cause havoc in the peleton.

Most likely, Canazei is located in a beautiful valley with those 3 passes around. Fedaia (from its steep side) would probably be the best option then. They could also arrive from Val di Fassa (after tackling San Pellegrino or Costalunga) but it would probably cap GC action due to a ride in the valley at the end.

Fedaia should be by far the best option given a finish in Canazei. But I'm still waiting for a stage where Fedaia will be the penultimate climb and is followed by Sella or Pordoi and possible a downhill finish to Selva or Arabba.

Giro is the only GT where 3 back to back hard mountain stages result in the opposite of enthusiasm because you just know they'll be placed in the third week and barely anything else beforehand. At least they're leaving the ITT at the end this time but it's hard to get excited when all the interesting talk is focused on stage 18,19 and 20. Yawn.

Stage 19 won't be a hard stage.

Well if stage 19 is somewhat like the 2018 Sappada stage, putting that one right in front of a Monte Grappa stage is definitely not a great idea. But I guess we are used to that.

They're coming from the east this time, so more of a breakaway day (or perhaps a 'breakaway day' in the mould of Formigal or the 1987 stage, you never know) regardless of what comes after it.

Riders like herrera have no business winning a gt. The routes of today mean only the pure climbers have a chance

I drove over Sella Ciampigotto from that side by car one month ago when I visited Sauris. Really nice climb and not a lot of traffic.

I drove over Sella Ciampigotto from that side by car one month ago when I visited Sauris. Really nice climb and not a lot of traffic.

Makes good sense with the lower passes on both sides of it. I guess there must be a lot of quiet roads in that area.

Even a Canazei downhill finish after Sella or Sella-Pordoi (MTF) would be good. Passo Sella is a bit underrated.

No! Double ascent of Monte Grappa (first over Bocca di Forca) and downhill finish to Bassano del Grappa would be infinitely better.
