That is literally the definition of favoring climbers.
Riders like herrera have no business winning a gt. The routes of today mean only the pure climbers have a chance
yes, that was already a rumour. But it wasn't that obvious to finish in Oropa on stage 2, they could have just finished in town.Ammattipyoraily tweeted the other day about Biella wanting the stage finish in town.
Of course. But still the rumoured stages could make the route anything from below average to really good.Prati di Tivo >> Gran Sasso, for starters.
It won't be much of a queen stage if they are only doing San Zeno and Aprica before Forcola di Livgino. Adding Trivigino via Passo Santa Cristina should really be an option. I prefer that to doing Mortirolo the wrong way yet again. Then they would go via Aprica over to Tirano before the Forcola do Livigno towards the finish.
Mentioned as alternatives are the Mortirolo from the wrong side to replace Aprica and Passo Maniva (which would be quite a detour to replace San Zeno with a harder climb)
The worst part of that would be it being the first high mountains stage. But you're probably right. As the first high mountain stage, I think that would be worse. Foscagno is less than 6.4 %, and Gavia would be at least 63 km out.
