Babes on Bikes

In view of the approaching unbelievable landmark of a (non-doping) forum topic with 2m hits, I thought we might start considering some suitable celebrations and gestures of recognition on the part of CN, for what is possibly the forum world’s most totally unexpected monster hit. After all, 2m hits aren’t to be sneezed at, revenue wise. This is as much a feather in CN’s cap as it is in the collective headgear of all those who made this monster possible.

I feel sure that CN will want to commemorate this historic occasion in some special way, maybe with a countdown clock on the front page from, say 1.975m, showing the hits one by one as the magic moment slowly approaches.....?

So, on a personal note, I was thinking maybe an inscribed plaque, a trophy, or a limited issue BoB 2m hits mouse pad, perhaps even a trip to head office and a handshake from the big guy himself might be in it for me?

Of course, I can by no means take all the credit for the runaway train success of this bountiful topic, though I sure did a lot of the pushing. I very much want to thank the other major contributors (you know who you are), and particularly those who guided the infant through its darkest hours during my absence from this place. I only found out about the attempts to murder my baby long after the event. I would, therefore, be happy to share any prize money with the noble souls who helped to ensure its survival.

I will, of course, be available for the in depth interview for the front page story that you, no doubt, will be wanting to write. ‘Babes on bikes, from controversy and laughing stock to phenomenon’ has a nice ring to it, don’t you think? I am also open to suggestions for other suitable media events and celebrations.

It's been some trip....;)

:D

Surprisingly, sex sells.

Congratulations Amster. Brilliant thread.

Make sure CN sends two first class airline tickets as Krebs deserves to see the big HQ as well.

Cheers.

They should create a limited-run BoB kit with your avatar on the side panels. The images for the front and back of the kit to be selected from the BoB thread via poll. Of course, there would be a panel of ads running horizontally across the chest and a double panel at the waistline. Maybe some pop-ups that come out of the jersey pockets when you retrieve food.

At the very least sticky for the General section or its own forum section (but above the rest of the measly low count threads).

I propose a special section of the thread to appear there for a limited time, in celebration: Porn on Bikes. Whaddaya think?

Definitely a blurb story on the main site with interviews, a timeline, the attempted closure/lockout, the wait/coutdown to 2mil, the mod edits, the top secret sub-posts, the repost fouls, I could go on...

Two million? Not all that great considering I personally account for over half of those views,

Interesting to see how few CN old timers have apparently been regular fans of this topic. There must be an awful lot of hits from visiting lurkers, or posters afraid to come out of the closet.:p

Surely the remaining mods have had the chance to consider options by now, so how about some feedback? I bet you've all peeked in here, haven't you?;)

yes celebrate a thread where creepy people look at porn on bikes instead of what normal people do in looking at classic porn. :D

Wait what? A thread celebrating Hamsterspammer? That sounds great.

I propose 2 things:

1. Hamsterspammer should dress up as a babe (I know it's going to be
hard to make him look half-decent, but I have contacted Steven Spielberg's make-up crew for the job (since they already have experience with dinosaurs).

2. He should get on a bike. If this is too much to ask, a wheelchair will do.

Also:

At least I had the decency to call my thread "Boomcie is totally awesome".
Why is this one called "A special milestone" and not "Amsterhammer is totally awesome"?

Wait, wasn't it Amsterhammer who complained about that specific thread?

Does. Not. Compute.

Special milestone indeed. This is also the thread which taught me about the virtues of rehydration.

:D Am I the only one who got that? At least, I think I got it. :D

A special milestone - The only milestone seems to be the point at which the site could not be financially viable with out peddling T!ts and @ss.

As you say a lot has gone on since we last debated all this and frankly BoB seems less out of place than it did. I am not sure this is entirely a good thing but others may disagree.

All good :)

My God, there is life in admin world after all.

Now, all we need is for someone at CN to get themselves a sense of humor transplant. In view of the supposed pride CN takes in its forums, is such a milestone really going to pass by without any sort of fanfare?

How much revenue do 2m hits represent? A fair few bob, I would guess.

anything between $1 and $3 rpm is considered fa fairly accurate base level (Revenue per mille, or per thousand views) although some sites go as high as $20 rpm or even more

So you can do the maths, 1000 x 1000 = 1 million

So around 2 thousand lots of 1 thousand, so 2 thousand lots of anywhere between 50c and $3. Based on that, Babes on bikes should have netter FP anywhere between $1000 (50c rpm) and $6000 ($3 rpm), thats based on the lowest likely rpm's

Seriously? So a bunch of guys looking repeatedly at a thread of pix of women is worth $1 million in revenue? Ye gods.

In case you've been out of touch with society, most everything if not everything revolves around it. Kevin Bacon may have 6 degrees of separation but the BoB thread has one, I'll leave you to the proof, if you can't get there in one you need to get out more often.

I'm a woman who finds the Circle Jerk thread uninteresting. And I'm bisexual. But then I find the whole plastic-botox-Hollywood/showbiz idea of what's supposed to be attractive in a woman to be very unappealing and the practice of using images-of-idealised/sexually-objectified-women-to-sell-stuff weird and problematic. I'd rather draw or paint a live woman than look at a thread of photos, many of which look airbrushed or shopped and weirdly depersonalised. So you know ... different strokes for different folks.

Still can't see how a number of guys repeatedly looking at the same thread is worth so much money. What an odd world we live in.
