With Garmin set to show of their first world elite road champion, Vaughters Tweeted, “Rainbow/Argyle.... Oh man.... The imagination runs wild.”

However the test between Vroomen and Vaughters’s partnership could be tested even at this early stage, with Vroomen telling Cyclingnews he would need a preview of the jersey.

“I don’t think it would be wise to let Vaughters have complete control of the jersey,” he joked. “

I don't want to pray for blindness, but I might be forced to! Argyle and Rainbow????? Ah, NO, THE PAIN! THE PAIN! PLEASE, MAKE IT STOP!

They'd only have to do some promo vids, and they could show it to the former Guantanamo detainees, and get vociferous confessions to anything they wanted to hear! Can you imagine, if the Spanish Inquisition had this? They would have had everybody babbling like idiots! Where is Monty Python when you need him??

If they find someone to do THIS with style, they will have my everlasting support, from sheer gratitude and relief!

:D

No worries, Hushovd is quite stylish and won't let Vaugthers destroy his jersey.
Actually it's the UCI that won't let them destroy the rainbow jersey. The rules state that it must be what we think of as the World Champion's Jersey. You can only have a certain amount of sponsors on both the jersey and shorts, if the shorts are matching. I guess you can fudge the shorts a little (Cadel's didn't look like they do in the rules), so the OP might be out of luck, and there might be some argyle.

Of course, some fans do like the argyle, like me. So I hope they find a way to get some on there.

BTW, here are the rules.

If they're smart, they'll go with a classy, simple WC jersey design... then the shorts will be white at the top, green at the bottom and have four bands of argyle (blue, red, black and yellow) atop it. Hey presto, argyle theme but without making the jersey look ridiculous.

I think it'd be great if they brought back more of the argyle. I noticed it has been toned down quite a bit since the Chipotle days.

The first Cervelo Test Team kits were the most tasteful I'd seen so I'm hoping they give the responsibility of the design duties to whoever came up with that kit. The Garmin design, to me, is just so bland, it would be a nightmare to continue in that vein with the new team kit and especially with the WC kit.

QFT. Whoever designs Garmin's jerseys needs to be put out of their misery. Worse than Le Groupement.

Quantum field theory?

Wikipedia said:
Quantum field theory (QFT) provides a theoretical framework for constructing quantum mechanical models of systems classically parametrized (represented) by an infinite number of dynamical degrees of freedom, that is, fields and (in a condensed matter context) many-body systems. It is the natural and quantitative language of particle physics and condensed matter physics. Most theories in modern particle physics, including the Standard Model of elementary particles and their interactions, are formulated as relativistic quantum field theories. Quantum field theories are used in many contexts, elementary particle physics being the most vital example, where the particle count/number going into a reaction fluctuates and changes, differing from the count/number going out, for example, and for the description of critical phenomena and quantum phase transitions, such as in the BCS theory of superconductivity, also see phase transition, quantum phase transition, critical phenomena. Quantum field theory is thought by many to be the unique and correct outcome of combining the rules of quantum mechanics with special relativity.

I can see how that could work, use QFT to get the correct balance between stripes and argyle. Good idea. You should tweet that to Vroomen and Vaughters.

they will just do a plain jersey im sure, but i would imagine they will do argyle shorts in rainbow colours, maybe sneak a bit of argyle onto the shirt at the bottom.

But i would imagine the top 60-70% of the shirt will be standard white world champions jersey.

Vaughters was joking. Maybe to see which fools would get worked up about it.

He's not an idiot. He wouldn't mess with the classic design, even if he could.

(i'd like to see his take on it though)

+1

Just give him some black shorts. Have some respect... and some taste.

please, please let Vaughters at least show us his more crazy ideas. Seriously, I could die a happy man if he had his way designing a flaming argylle rainbow jersey. Actually, scrap that - I have the best idea ever. Have Vaughters and Cipo be the main fashion designers for the *entire* peloton - that would be the best thing ever.

I drool with anticipation

There is going to be no Argyle replacing the Rainbow bands on Thor's jersey, thankfully(first time I've said this about UCI rules) the rules for the Rainbow jersey are quite strict. Have a read here

http://www.uci.ch/includes/asp/getTarget.asp?type=FILE&id=NDE5NDk

Rule 1.3.065 is interesting:

Wearing the world champion’s jersey or the rainbow piping is prohibited as soon as the anti-doping commission, after the review described in article 186 of the anti-doping rules, asserts that the rider committed an anti-doping violation and until his definitive acquittal.

Vaughters and Cipo? My god, that's like throwing Lady Gaga in with Coco Chanel !

Cipo was outlandish and exciting, Vaughters' style is just awful.

Still, I'm laughing! :D
