AC - Just the Yellow Jersey

I like that AC was just wearing the Yellow Jersey today and not getting all silly with a yellow bike, helmet, shorts, handle bar tape, glasses, tires, etc.

I have always though it a bit much and "silly" to match EVERYTHING to a jersey. Yellow, green, white, red dots doesn't matter.

Now Chipo and his skinsuits was way cool. Should have bought one when they were selling for a charity. He took that fine and wore then with class.

Maybe he's a little emarrassed about the way he ended up with it - and didn't want to wave it in everyone's face.

Definitely the case, I think he would be widely criticised if he did. But come Paris and he'll have the full strip.

Or it's because Specialized mechanics could make all yellow bike overnight.

We still might see from the helmet to the socks yellow Alberto tomorrow.

Don't you think they have one prepared for the occasion? It's not exactly a surprise he gets the yellow :)

Good point!

So it's deliberate then. Nice from Contador.

Because well, he can't really ditch it and wear normal team outfit -- that would be an insult to both organisers' and the team's efforts.

Most teams have matching bikes and outfits for all jerseys. Most will obviously never wear/ride them, but it's really funny if you take a look inside their truck once :)

the one thing that was cool was how quickstep were able to make chavanel the yellow/green bike for one stage, then the pure yellow one for the second time. Although their factory is in belgium so...

I think that's probably right. Too much controversy around the situation and better to go all in once it is clear. Now watch he's rocking a yellow bike and all yellow gear tomorrow. :p

EDIT: He didn't pull a Nocentini this year either (wearing full yellow kit on the rest day training rides).

When did this trend start anyway? It used to be always just the jersey, no sunglasses, socks, bikes etc.

well cippo always used to get fined, i think one tour his fines were higher than his prize money, but its all coverge for the sponsor. It may be that they still get fined, but just dont care.

Personally Id prefer just the jersey and keep the shorts, bike etc as standard.

Why didn't they just give him Shrek's yellow bike. It was ready to go....

well seeing as Specialised made one overnight for Cancellara and did the same for Andy i'm pretty sure they can do it overnight.

Anyone know if any of these three ride the same size frame ?

I don't think so... Spartacus and Andy are higher than El Pistolero...

They usually don't go all-out with the yellow(or pink) right away. Usually they wait until they've been in the jersey a few days or until the race is sewn up.

unless you're cipo
