Farnese has Pozzato, they will surely be invited

Acqua & Sapone has Di Luca and the 2011 mountain jersey holder Garzelli

it will be a big match Colnago-Coldeportes-Androni-TT1?

can we do something to stop the FDJ trip to Italy :D and leave a spot free?

Whoever gets looked over for the giro (Androni?) will assumedly get one of the tirreno wildcards.

great that they are announcing them in early january so teams can plan for the races. Far better than all this last minute stuff.

Dont see why anyone would overlook Androni when they have one of the top contendors for Pink..

If TT1 and/or some Chinese team is invited, I'm sure it will be among the seven for MSR or Lombardia. It will surprise me if the wildcards for the giro are not those mentioned by jens_attacks.

Androni doesn't get automatic wild card ?? they won the Italian Team Cup last season again, which I think ensure them to get an invitation through some kind of agreement between RCS and Italian federation.

I'd like to see Colombia Coldeportes. Duarte and his folks can make that race fun.

Farnese might get a wild card since Oscar GATTO won a great stage last year?

If TT1 are getting Cobo and co. like the rumours suggest then you can't rule them out for a wildcard for the Giro. Nice blog though.

Yeah true but the new race organisers from RCS don't really like that agreement and their plan is to end it in some way.

Damn the World Tour. You can tell by the way it's written that they really want Acqua, Androni, Colnago, Coldeportes and Farnese all to be at the Giro - they all have reason to want to be there. As it is, at least one of them will miss out, and we have to watch FDJ and Greenedge put a man in the early breaks most days but generally being invisible throughout.

Casar and Demare are likely to ride the Giro.

even if I wish GreenEdge could get some good results, I must agree with you
luckily Euskaltel will send Nieve to the Giro again

Bad idea. At least invitations to Giro should be given in late March after MSR. Seems like the decision will be based on many diffrent criterions expect the most important, sporting results in 2012.

Fair would be:
Tirreno: Coldeportes & Utensilord
Giro: Acqua, Androni, Colnago, Farnese
MSR: Acqua, Androni, Colnago, Farnese, Utensilord, 1t4i, TT1
Lombardia: Acqua, Androni, Colnago, Farnese, Utensilord, 1t4i, Coldeportes

but more possible:

Tirreno: Acqua & Colnago
Giro: Androni, Farnese, NetApp, Champion System/TT1/Colnago
MSR: Acqua, Androni, Colnago, Farnese, Utensilord, Champion System, TT1
MSR: Acqua, Androni, Colnago, Farnese, NetApp, Champion System, TT1

Fair? 1t4i in Lombardia?

I would say that in the case of invisibility in the Giro it's hard to surpass Xacobeo-Galicia 2009. Of course if Mosquera was able to start it might be a different story, but...

I would like to see a system where either world tour teams could withdraw from up to three races a year, or even sell their spots..

Then fdj could sell their giro spot to someone for a hundred thousand euros

Champion, TT1? what... Not entirely convinved about Untensilnord either

Read the article.

I did read the article and I know that it isn't the first time that Champion system has been mentioned as a wildcard possibility.

However as much as RCS need money I would never give Champion system in it's current form a wildcard at more than 1 event.
