Advice required for selling my bike

Hello everyone

A few months ago I got myself sorted with a racing bike.

Metalic blue Easton Aluminium FRM frame. Isaac carbon forks. Shimano gear set. Ultegra crank? Double sided SPD pedals coz ii got fed up turning them around! And 105 flight decks. I also put fulcrum racing bladed spokes on it.

Then sadly I was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer and bowel disease so I am no longer allowed things like lucazade sports drinks and glucose bars which means hard core racing bikes are now to end.

Complete shame as I bought a bell aero helmet and blue SPD shoes to match the colour of the bike.

So my question to you all is:

Other than eBay. Where is the best place to sell my bike? Coz this bike being FRM is better suited to people that know a new FRM frame is the best part of £1500 new.

Looking forward to all your advice as a newbie on the block.

I have never heard of "FRM", and I don't understand why you think sports drinks and energy bars are a requirement to riding a bike. You know, you can ride a bike fueled just by water and a sandwich too.

I have about as hardcore a racing bike as is made and I use water, bananas, real food. I have intestinal problems too. Its OK to decide you ain't a hardcore rider without making lame and nutty excuses. As for your bike. Accept you will get less than 1/2 what you paid for it. Used bikes are worthless since most people can really afford a new what ever they are dreaming about. What ever that bike you are currently riding is (I never heard of FRM) you may ride it soft core too. If you need a bike you are still going to loose a lot in repurposing the kind of bike. Lower gears and bigger tires with a flat bar and that racing bike is a city bike for less money than you would lose in selling this and getting a city bike.

And give it a thorough tuning and cleaning before you put it up for sale. It will make a better impression, and besides, shop mechanics are weary of telling buyers of used bikes that their new bargain needs a couple hundred dollars of work..

I 2nd all the opinions you've already gotten.

Only one question they didn't answer. Where besides Ebay. You don't mention where you are - but you are talking pounds, which I think is going to limit you geographically to the UK. Australia and NZ both use dollars, I think. In the US we have Craigslist. An excellent alternative to Ebay. But Ebay works real well, so why not Ebay? What are you trying to achieve that Ebay doesn't do for you?

There are plenty of small bicycle forum for sale boards online - but I don't think they amount to a hill of beans, myself. Not enough traffic to make them work well. Brings you right back to Ebay - or maybe you guys have some equivalent of Craigslist.

There's Gumtree in the UK.

FWIW FRM are an Italian boutique brand of bike parts, but suspect their frames are generic rebranded items. There is a healthy market for used bikes and parts as well as a host of sellers with unrealistic expectations in terms of price. Set your price at 50% of what you paid and you'll probably sell.

Adding a hot chick to the ad post never has hurt and has greatly increased sales throughout history, see your pocket book for proof.
