Airing of grievances for pro cycling

Festivus is upon us. It's time for the airing of grievances.

I'll start by saying that it is sad to have such an unworthy world champion.

The Tour's management has continued its pussification of the Tour by announcing a crap route with no queen stage.

Pat McQuaid. Need I say more?

It's not my place to air my grievances regarding the world champion, so I'll just have to announce my regret at the lack of selectivity in the course.

Also, the lighting quick pace with which the wheels of justice are turning in the Contador case.

Happy festivus Bro

By the time the final judgement is handed down, Contador will have almost had time to serve a two year suspension. It's like being charged with a crime, clapped into prison, and by the time the trial ends you have nearly served the recommended sentence, no matter if you are found innocent or guilty. It's a great system.

The removal of the Muur for the 2012 RvV.

The #1 team in the sport out due to lack of a sponsor.

The UCI.

JV's chops.

The French Gendarme/Mayor of Camphin en Pevele and the bummer that has become spectating Paris-Roubaix nowadays.

Grievances - learned a new word. ;)

I have to say it totally upset me to see Griepel's positioning in the worlds roadrace. It upset me even more than his usual displacements, because it was the worlds of course, and he came from the back like a rocket (again).
I have to admit, I never watched that race again. Not even the results. Nothing. Nada. Niente. :D

Next on the list would be those 4 Germans, 4!, and every single one of them with chances on being in yellow after the 2011 TdFs TTT. All failed. :D

The fact the UCI are so screwed up.
The deaths of Xavier and Wouter.
The Contador situation/ plus the 2010 moneyfixing scandal.
Peter Sagan interposing himself between Haussler and Goss and then failing to even start his sprint therefore blocking Goss. Goss probably would have either thought Sagan would go well/ or was annoyed that he interrupted his jump.
Samuel Sanchez placed so far back at F-W. He was like in the 5th row yet still came 3rd. Contador was in the 3rd yet failed.

Angelo Zomegnan being removed from the Giro. That is a crying shame right there. We don't need kinder, gentler Giros.

According to Zomegnan, he notified the Giro heads of his desire to no longer be on the staff after Sept. 1st shortly before the Giro started. He sent a letter to Velonews complaining of their claims that he was given the boot. He's still holds an advisory position in the Giro's administration until 2014.
Velonews posted his letter and admitted they were wrong in their suggesting that the "Crostis debacle" provoked his departure.

* Wheel sucking tactics at Flanders and Roubaix! AaaggggHHHHH!!!

* Supposed doping cases that take for ever and a year to prosecute... really takes the bite out of a ban.

* Whiney descenders at le Tour... its like it was the first year they went downhill or something...

* Whiney fans that there's too many crashes at le Tour, yet come next year that tour will be the crashiest tour that they can remember...

* Hugging and hand holding at race finali's by supposed rivals. Uugghhh...

How so? Didn't cheat or do anything else nefarious, did he?

Fair comment.

Treatment of women's cycling.

Too many flat races that pay UCI points meaning a second-tier sprinter is more important than a guy who can come top 10 of a GT if they can't podium.

The ever-shrinking Spanish domestic calendar, and even more so the Portuguese one.

Pat McQuaid.

The blueprint for successful cycling being "big budget + boredom = success", meaning more and more teams join in with this method and crowd out the top, only to find there's not always the budget there to retain sponsors, but crowd out and kill off smaller teams.

GT parcours for the last year and next year. And the Vuelta al País Vasco parcours for next year.

Too many short stage races only have one decisive stage, so it's either "win the TT win the race" (Andalucía, Murcía, Beijing, Limousin, Denmark, Bayern and depressingly in 2011 Paris-Nice) or "win the one climb, win the race" (Castilla y León, Catalunya, Ain, Settimana Lombarda).

The watering down of the Giro course for the coming year.

A boring World's course.

Schleck. Pick one, they are interchangably dull.

The Contador debacle that STILL isn't decided.

AToC moving the race opposite the Giro...idiots.

not quite, it's more like being found guilty, getting let out on appeal, going about your life as per normal (only with a little less clenbuterol than before) while the trial rumbles on, then - if you get found guilty - saying "well that last 18 months counts as having been doing hard time".
i agree it's a great system, and if that's how it plays out for clentador, then i'm sure he'll agree too.

i wish you a happy festivus and with clentador a merry syphillis and a happy gonorrhea.

Contador is important to the ASO/UCI. Everything has been done to keep him on the road.

AToC moved specifically to diminish the popularity of the Giro. http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/6...duce-the-duration-of-the-Giro-and-Vuelta.aspx

It seems to me it helps the ASO out. But, only Pat knows the real reasons why they want it.

For me, it's a tie:
The remarkably low rate of positives in 2011. Where's Francesa Rossi?
Road World's course.
