Alkaline Water

Been drinking alkaline water recently when out on the bike. Don't notice much of a difference taste wise but a friend said its great for reducing stomach acid and easing acid reflux. Reflux is something I seem to get when exercising. So far, so good. I'm considering getting one of those machines that lets you make your own alkaline water at home using tap water. Have any of you any experience with alkaline water or using a machine?

Thanks

My understanding is that alkaline water can reduce acid in your stomach, and also in your blood (much less effect). Both of these can lead to poor nutrient uptake. Also, its worth looking into how they process the water to make it alkaline.

If it helps with acid reflux while riding maybe its an option for you, but I would also look at other things that could be leading to acid issues. ie: did you replace a sports drink with alkaline water? Maybe the sports drink was causing the acid reflux, so not drinking that was the fix not the alkaline water.
