According to Andy Coggan posting over on Usenet (rbr), Andrew Lim was subpoenaed to the Grad JUry last year around the time of the Tour of CA. Anyone heard anything about what the boy actually said? Did he lie for Lance?

Lim is an excellent liar. No one could ever break him. I saw an interview with him at last years ToC and he was rock solid in refuting all of Floyd's claims.

I suggest they waterboard him to get the truth. But even then I don't think he'll break.

A perjury indictment might do it. If he testified a year ago, he may not have seen the writing on the wall.

Kind of old news Cima:

http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/cycling/news/story?id=5632088

BTW, I hear Lance will not be starting the TdF this year.
Well, if he DOES start he will NOT make it into France.
Or he will not finish, something like that.

My interest is whether or not he's cut a deal since then. The same goes for the woman from Oakley, Macilvain(sp?). Both supposedly knew nothing. But, that was then; this is a very new now.

I could start a rumor right here, but it would be a lie. But I think the whole idea is to let what's said before GJ, stay before GJ. Wouldn't want to tip off any target they'd see after Lim?
What I wonder, and what we might as well speculate about is how comfortable would a guy like Lim be after it, confessed or lied, in his usual work at his usual employer? Would he refuse to break rules, or be held to keep doing as he was, until all others were heard? When is he setting them up, and when is he committing rule breaches after he's confessed them? GJ might tell him "as you were until further notice". He may or may not have told the relevant parties of his trip to GJ. Is it even allowed to state you've been called?
Sorry for the questions, I actually do live in a free country ;-)

 Wouldn't the bold bit amount to entrapment? Or is that cool under US law - anyone know?

It would only be really uncomfortable for Lim if he was responsible for the team program. I'm guessing someone else had that role and Lim was only an assistant for certain friends. So all he would have to do now is say I'm not doing anything naughty any more cause, with this investigation going on, I'm too scared. Who wouldn't believe Lim was scared?

He must be allowed to tell people he was called, because he is allowed to tell people what he said.

I posted this in the Legal "Sticky" at the top of The Clinic, but it may answer some questions here.

The Federal Grand Jury: Ten Tips for the Unwary

3. Don't be Bullied or Misled About Grand Jury Secrecy.

Federal grand jurors, grand jury court reporters and the prosecutors running the grand jury are under a strict duty to keep any “matter occurring before the grand jury” a secret. This duty is codified in Rule 6(e) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure. Violations of this rule can result in sanctions or criminal contempt charges against a prosecutor. But the rule of secrecy does not apply to federal grand jury witnesses. If you are a grand jury witness, you have the right to tell the whole world about your grand jury testimony. Of course, it may not be in your interest to do this—you may want to keep your appearance before the grand jury under close wraps. You need to understand, however, that it is your call—not the government’s.

He must be allowed to tell people he was called, because he is allowed to tell people what he said.

Al's problem is that if he cut a deal for his testimony, it could cause him to lose his faculty position at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Except he's not faculty there, he only got a degree from CU.

He doesn't show up in a search for faculty on their website

Correct (except that I think he got both his masters and doctoral degrees from CU).
