Alps, June 2011

Mrs Rat and I are visiting her family in the Jura's in June but I'll be stopping off in the Alps for a bit on the way to get some good riding in. Does anyone know of anything going on there that I should put in the diary, or any websites for that kind of thing? I'm thinking sportives, or maybe even an amateur race could be interesting. See if I can haul my 6'3" 73kg carcass up the mountains in a race against the skinny mountain goats Indurain-style. :D

Thanks,

RR

Brilliant, thanks Race. The Morzine Vallée d'Aulps and Les 3 Ballons look possible. La Vaujany looks good, including an ascent of l'alpe d'huez, but that may just be a bit too late in the month for us.

All are good rides. I have done the Vaujany a few times, great course. The long course is pretty hard, 14,000 feet of climbing IIRC. The short course is still pretty hard with some great roads. I may be at the Vercos ride this year, still a bit up in the air.
