I think Eurosport never actually showed Vino in that trial. A few secs of him starting and crossing marks and -pop!- he beat everyone.

I will happily argue against that, mainly due to the fact his blood was so thick it wouldn't even ooze out of the open wounds on his knees that caused him to lose 25 minutes the day before or whatever.

I hope that any coverage of that time trial has been destroyed.

How can you possibly rate this ride over any one of Cancellara's TT WC wins, especially 09??

That Tour in its totality was the best since a very long time.

Perhaps I'm a little biased as I already was a fan of Contador since 2006, but still.

i didn't see passion in that mendrisio win,i didn't see the pain in every muscle, the pisz all over the shorts.
in the last km he even stopped just to say hello to the public and a huge smile all over his face.
don't get me wrong, still fabian is a beast and the best itt rider in the world....

but this:

The only reason Cancellara had time to celebrate in the final straight is because he'd demolished Larsson et al, caught his closest contender for a minute with 15km so it was in the bag. It was a special special ride.

seriously you didn't watch that tour??

vino, who before that tour stood in front of parlement and president in uniform full with medals declaring on live tv he would win the tour for kazakhstan. then he crashes so badly but he doesn't give up as that is not a word vino knows. the pus comes out of his knees literally during stages. he tries so hard but even with an iron will the body stops and he loses time in the mountains. then vino goes into the itt with some renewed blood and absolutely destroys the field as he declares with tears in his eyes and slime across his face that he is back in contention and promises attacks in the pyrenees I was literally in tears while watching that timetrial and can't think of a cycling fan who wouldn't be. these things transcend sports.

I think Lance deleted all the vino-clips on youtube.
I remember a huge amount of videos from this special Vino-TT some time ago.

Yes I watched that Tour, it was brilliant, but watching Vino's rides (inc. the stage win from the break a couple of days after) from that year sickens me.

I loved that stage, was disgusted afterwards, but seeing Vino ride again made me instantly forget the dope.

Hope someone can find it again! :D

+1 man, for sure. I had biked to les Cabannes that day (at the foot of Plateau-de-Beille), after a week of biking through Spain and Andorra with 2 of my friends from Canada, totally stoked to see my first live stage of bike racing ever on a MTF in le Tour the next day. The buildup had been awesome, we'd stop every day at 3pm to find a bar showing the race, thrilled that we were actually in a place where other people cared about bike racing.

That day, we huddled in this cafe/bar in les Cabannes with a ton of locals, with the rain pouring outside and in Albi, bubbling with anticipation that we'd see these riders in person the next day. Then we saw Vino. Oh my god, what a monster performance. The shot of him coming to the line, bleeding, grimacing, foam on his mouth, was as exciting as seeing Rasmussen and Contador come around the corner of the actual mountain road the next day.

I don't know of any youtube videos, but you could find it here...

You've got a fine moral compass there. Watching the news of Christchurch makes me weep. Seeing vino a bloc on someone else's blood makes me puke.

I think Lotto would have a copy of that TT because they were still trying to sue him for compo after fraudulently taking the Glory and yellow from Cadel.
