Well that was certainly a surprise.

How "old" could that footage really be though?

I never expected to see something like that. Those guys are reckless and crazy, and they're doing nothing to improve relations between cars and bikes. They make it worse for all of us. But to see Lance mixing it up like that—helmet-less, cargo shorts, fixie, etc—was quite intriguing.

About the only thing I approve of is the front brake on Lance's bike Can't deny the skill most fixed riders show though, some of the messengers are unbelievable, that's why I won't race Alley Cats!

Say what you want about Lance, but he obviously enjoys being out on a bike.

We used to have alley cat racing when I was a cycle courier. It can get bonkers but not has bonkers as making delivery's.
I have cold sweats thinking about the lunatic on a bike I used to be. Near miss after near miss after crash .it was insane.

Still what they do in the video posted in the OP is totally insane and it creates very dangerous situations, though I do enjoy watching the bike handling I would still to have those people off the road.

In response to Ruudz0r , I can understand "get them off the road " but you don't even realize how crazy your riding ,you just take more risks to get more jobs to earn more money. To be honest most of the accidents/crashes I had, I got hurt. Only on the odd occasion did I hit a "civilian" and that was them walking straight into the road without looking " I got some stories I can tell ya, really crazy and funny" It was a buzz like most risky things but funny enough the most money I earnt was sitting around in a bank just in case a cheque needed delivering, £30 an hour which was shed loads back in the day. Still good now. It was for 2 hours of the day. The rest of the time I was bombing around earning between £2 - £5 a drop.
No idea what the pay is now but I can tell you 90% of riders don't last a day or two. Nice comradeship though.
When its pi%%ing down with rain and freezing cold 8/9 hour days are very long I can tell you and that's when you earn your money. The summer is dead.

It's a firsthand account of a Chicago bike messenger. Come to think of it, I lent to a very close friend who lives in Chicago. And never got it back!
