Astana rider details Contador's doping practices

This is almost too good to be true. Other forumers have questioned the credibility of the magazine.

If it's true, shouldn't it be someone from his gang to know that kind of stuff in such detail? My money's on Navarro, he wants to steal the spotlight and ride as a leader next year!

So what: the Chicken says he's innocent, and that's good enough for me.

I so wanted to start a thread called "Contador picks up a Chicken endorsement," but there are plenty of Contador threads already...

You cannot accept ANY info from Astana. Vino?? Major ticked off that AC left and I do not trust what he will say or do to get even.

Yea, because that kind of detail has to be made up.

Corroboration

Wow. How spectacularly un-omerta like. Rockem sockem!

Looks like Novitzky & the US might be meaningfully cooperating with other agencies.

Looks like investigators are cutting riders out of the herd.

Only the stars make the big bucks. The peons can't afford to fight law enforcement. Simeoni-style manipulations are pitiful and pathetic when balanced against a federal prosecution coming your way.

Tidal wave of cooperating witnesses?

So it was someone on the Astana Dauphine team that gave these quotes?

Astana
12 David De La Fuente (Spa)
13 Dmitriy Fofonov (Kaz)
14 Jesus Hernandez Blazquez (Spa)
15 Daniel Navarro (Spa)
16 Benjamin Noval Gonzalez (Spa)
17 Paolo Tiralongo (Ita)
18 Andrey Zeits (Kaz)

I don't think it has to be someone on the Dauphine team that gave the quotes but more likely someone whom he was training with after the Dauphine that gave the quotes. So whom from Spain has an axe to grind.

You're giving this story way too much attention. With the culture of cycling being what it is the source* will stay anonymous with 99% certainty.

*if it's not simply an embellished educated guess of doping practices

3 of those guys are transferring with him (if that happens now).

Leaving De La Fuente, Fofonov, Tiralongo, and Zeits as the possible leaks. I doubt the others would bite the hand that feeds them.

none of the kazakhs normally get even close to berto's entourage. many reports that he moved around dined and drove with his buds none of whom were from kaz.

Only vino was sort of close but i doubt he's a stooge.

the story smells.

Of those, De la Fuente and Tiralongo were with Contador during his pre-Tour training camp in the mountains north of Madrid, which was a good time to talk about this kind of stuff.

God I love baseless speculation.

It's not a rider. The original article says it's a source close to the Astana team. A Belgian soigneur or something like that seems more likely.

Yup. Almost too good to be true...

If it is true then it raises other questions.

Who is the masked man?
Clen is easily detected at therapeutic levels. How could Bertie be so confident that he wouldn't be busted by an OoC test?
Why has the masked man come forward? Motive doesn't necessarily invalidate testimony, but this is really against the grain.

Hmmm.....

You are right the motive doesn't change the truth. If Landis got his ride at TRS you think he would have broken omerta? Astana was ****ed Pharmador left and they released info on his doping. Maybe its revenge or maybe its truth but equally well crafted as his lame streak story.

Um, the correct term is "Whistleblower", not "stoge" lol.

Now if the rider that is talking is going to get a reduced sentence in exchange for his truth teling - then it is a stoolie or snitch or stooge.

Astana doing anything of the sort would be suicide.

Interesting story. An eyewitness account from a teammate is about as damning as you can get.

http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/5...-transfusion-prior-to-the-Tour-de-France.aspx

Just the fact that the article belongs to Velonation, it really bears no veracity at all-- the so called "Astana insider" reveals the entire process in detail, which indicates by rational thinking that his identity must be one of the Spanish rides AC trains with, since they're the only ones that close to him to reveal that kind of activities----
I think the "Velo-informant" is probably Bruyneel or Paulinho talking about how AC was doing things back in 09......

CN has it up now.

So why didn't he test positive in the DL for clen? He won the Alpe stage. Does the stage winner, leader, and a random get tested like in GT's in the smaller races?
