actually a roadie is more likely to hump your leg if he likes your bike or you drop him than a mountain biker is. Mtn guy will usually go bitter-man and give you a spray if you out bling him or smoke his a$$.

Whoa! Harsh, dude!

I can see the original analogy - I think it works - not real well, but it works. MTB, BMX, folks seems to be more friendly "let's have a bbq" kind of openness. Roadies are more often solitary operators. But let's not bring tri-folk in on this, eh? What would they be? Coyotes? Crows?

I know, rhinos! Nobody's pet, definitely operate solo, bad eyesight, deceptively fast but only two major speeds - slow or surprisingly fast - and squirrely in a pack.

Cats = Fitness and Skill Set. Dogs just fitness and no skills.

with this equation it is the MTBr who is the cat.

Most roadies will sit on your wheel for miles and then sprint away at a moment's hesitation or sign of fatigue. Then, sipping their lattes while waiting at the coffee shop, they will say, "You must not be riding enough miles."

Ok, then. Cats are strictly sprinters. They do not do LSD. Unless you count 100 yards as long. They do not even do the "long" part. Just ain't there. If you want a cat to do a long distance (at better than walking pace), you put him in a carrier and carry him.

A dog, on the other hand, unless he is crippled, is naturally inclined to go the distance.

On the third hand - take skunks - they saunter everywhere. But mostly, people are inclined to sprint in the other direction. Unless you have the visual acuity of Pepe Le Pew.

Kinda sick of this image-maintenance and coerciveness.

All cycling is real cycling; all modes of cycling are valid, capiche? Many of us cycle in each of these ways at different times - road, MTB, commuter, tourer, randonneur, BMX, etc.

There are big monsters pushing us to the margins already, we don't need to do it to each other.

I've seen a BMX and its rider under a truck. He was just riding along. It was once a fully-formed, feeling and functioning human being.

If we feel justified to draw distinctions, what do you think the anti-cyclists do?

maybe you are on to something. A cat will climb up on your lap just to show you his a$$hole. they must be roadies
