the sports section of the Sydney Morning Herald 19/11/2011 has a rumour that a European based Australian rider on a 3rd tier team is about to be busted for recreational drug use. Doesn't appear to be available online

Of course it's not available online, because you appear to have a future edition of the paper!:D

Must be the 1% that Pat and Hein are always talking about, since clearly there are no PEDs in cycling.

Dave.

Those of us who live in godzone entered the 19/5/2011 about 10 and a half hours ago
And I dont think its BMC (protour) Rory Sutherland isn't European based is he(and he's riding for United Healthcare which is UCI procontinental)? Australians riding on UCI Continental mens in Europe are.....

Has not represented Australia at elite world championship level

Well Dennis has on the track, so that might rule him out.

Others are:

Zakkari Dempster (Rapha)
Casey Munro (Rapha)
Dean Windsor (Rapha)
Jack Anderson (Endura)
Joshua Prete (PSK Whirlpool)
Nicolas Sanderson (Amore & Vita)
Mark O'Brien (SP Tableware)
Liam Poole (WSA)

And we shouldn't rule out it being one of the AIS riders.

the way the article is written, its not necessarily a European registered team but a European based rider. i thought the livestrong team was primarily US based
Which possibly rules against the jayco-AIS team. i thought they were mainly doing Australian races

They have several riders based in Italy, a number of them (or all of them - not sure?) come home to do the second half of the national series, starting with Tour of Gippsland.

I remember when Chris DelBosco was stripped of his National DH title for testing positive for Marijuana,

not exactly a performance enhancer

Did his prep for the Nationals include making late night visits to 7-11?

Yep, pick on the real problem...

...some part-time "pro" smoking a joint or maybe taking a happy pill or two for their own amusement, hurting nobody except themselves, and if anything hindering rather than helping their performance.

Well if they were using cocaine or amphetamines close to a race, and got tested in-competition for it, they only have themselves to blame. Everyone knows the rules and they are very clear. From here you hope you can play the "Gasquet Defense" if you want to get off.

Nice list. I overlooked Poole at WSA when I did mine, AUT/AUS thing I guess. :D

Did Boonen get banned?

Windsor and Munro are currently riding in the RAS. Dempster was in Lorraine on the 21st.

Jack Anderson DNF on Olympia Tour Stage 7 21/04 so that counts him out too.

Mark O'Brien completed 5 Rings of Moscow (is Russia known as anti-'dope'? :D) 4/5th May

Can't find any definitive info on the others
