nice link. I love this discipline in cycling. it separates ones fitness numbers part of the sport from skill set immediately. mad skills these kids have. the only numbers they look at are gap size; not average speed power heart rate blah blah...

it doesn't take skills to get over a gap. it takes balls and courage.
 
Well if you think that's jumping then no, there isn't any skill involved, the same way turning up at the Fort William downhill course with no clue what you're doing, throwing yourself down the course and hoping you don't crash doesn't require skill.

If however you want to jump well, keep good position in the air, make a smooth landing and still get the best air you can then it does take skill. Even more if you start putting tricks in there.

Simple jumps may only require basic skills, but it's very obvious when the rider doesn't have them.

There's so many out there calling themselves professionals, but they can't land properly or hold a good position in the air.
