It's clear that Iglinskiy's mullet acted as an aero flaring giving him an unfair advantage. The 3-to-1 rule must be extended to haircuts, otherwise euro-mullets will be used to distort the results of major races.

I think you're onto something.
Vladimir Karpets stopped performing immediately after going from this

So anyone know where Stephen Roche stands on this all important issue? I hear rumours he's talking about introducing rules against mono-brows and fuchsia jerseys.

I've heard that some riders with really long mullets are using them to rest their arms on while riding in the simulated TT position. The way I see it we have 2 options only - ban the simulated TT position or allow short tri-bars.

chopped off his mullet and put him on one of the worst bikes you can buy - will ruin anyone's career

add some triathlon wheels and you have the apocalypse

I believe new mullets are being desgined that can be raised at the back to provide extra downforce giving more contol in descents and wet conditions.

Clearly Wiggins is planning his excuses early - he will turn up at the Tour sans mullet and will blame any drop in form on that.

IMO mullets are acceptable so long as they are not adjustable by the rider during a race. I would not want a rider changing the shape of a mullet while slipstreaming to reduce down-force

I should think Dekker deserves exemption since the hair will only offset the drag created by his massive face.

Plenty of adjustable aero mullety goodness right there.
He really took the "business at the front, party at the back" philosophy seriously.

A ponytail sure didn't help Fignon at the Tour in 1989.

That's because he didn't style it right, you need the full flaring of a real mullet to create the right aerodynamic effect, same reason golf balls don't just have a thin strip of dots around the middle.

He was also slowed down by the drag created by his computer programmer glasses.

In my town we have a race during which there is a mullet competition in honor of Laurent Brochard.
