Basso at Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec

Ivan Basso when interviewed by the North American press said he was in Quebec to work for his teammates, specifically Peter Sagan. I guess he was all done though with several laps remaining. Check out this photo and note that the tv moto crew was right on top of it as well.

I guess organizers should plan on housing the riders at a hotel not directly on the course in the future. It was pretty funny as he climbed over the barriers and rode through the archway and along the sidewalk then directly into the lobby of the Chateau Frontenac as the doorman held the door for him.

I later spoke to a fixed position tv cameraman who related that his director was all over getting footage of Basso escaping into the grand hotel.

I remember once in F1 at the Monaco Grand Prix, Kimi Raikkonen's engine blew up, so he parked in it front of his yacht and was on the deck sipping vodka within minutes.

Basso got off the bike.. not such a big deal.
He did not get off the bike when it counted, in the GIRO .
