What seems strange is that the one-year ban was back-dated, so has already expired. Presumably the missed tests happened in 2009/10, and so the case has taken over a year to complete. This is ridiculous for something that is a lot more clear-cut than, say, Contador

There seems to be a bit more to this case than a simple missed test.

There really is no telling how long the wrangling went on to get this situation to this outcome. One missed test and results are swept away in a back-dated penalty announced a month after all is said and done.

This is the one area where I have complete sympathy with riders who dope. To be clear, in this case no one knows who is doing what and I'm not calling Bauge a doper. There's just no rhyme or reason to the penalties or the process, so why not take a chance?

I'm intrigued at the idea that the UCI may be catering to the IOC's next big show with the now complete double-secret probation.

Is this one of the 5 or so incomplete cases from earlier this year? No one knows.
