Who produced the most impressive third-place finish at the Tour since 21?

Voted Vino. But definitely for me Remco ‘24 was the most impressive for me. I never realised how well Remco could climb with the big 2. Way more impressive than when he won the Vuelta. And Remco was strong for three weeks.

There was also the Col de la Bonette stage when he towed a struggling Vingo to the finish at Isola.

None of the others are as impressive for me.

Voted Vino. After the Loudenvielle stage, he genuinely looked like he might win the Tour.

Carapaz showed good fighting spirit in the first week and was strong in the Pyrenees, but without a good TT it was always impossible for him. Thomas was just doing his thing and did not matter for the race.

Yates seems a bit overestimated here. He was great only in the second week. In the first and third week he was dropped often by other non-podium finishers.

In terms of pure numbers and consistency, Evenepoel 2024 takes the cake in front of Lipowitz 2025.

definitely Remco '24 - 10 minutes to 4th place - an alien performance in it's own right
Got 3'43" just because Landa and Almeida weren't leaders. Stages 11 and 17, both lost so much time because their leaders were in front and their group wasn't pulling at all. Context is always important.

If anyone asked me who was 3rd in 2023, I probably wouldn't remember it was A Yates. That's how little impact his 3rd place registers with me.

Vino's 3rd place was obviously the most spectacular, seeing how much he animated the race and actually had Armstrong/USPS on the ropes a couple of times with long range attacks (the Beloki crash stage for instance).

But I voted for Geraint Thomas solely because of how old he was at the time, and because I prefer the more old-school generation that he represents.

Yates took yellow, won a stage and was a good support leader for Pog in the most memorable Tour since 19'. But even still fair enough.

But then - you pick Thomas?? The only answer that is outright wrong. Wicked!

I mostly remember those pictures:
Vingegaard in yellow, Pogacar in white, and then, somewhere in the background, lurked G!

Really anonymous 3rd place, having an identical twin on a similar level makes even worse

I think there was one mtf where Yates appeared to be equally strong to both of them and I can’t remember this from any of the other options
