What is the best attack or ride you can remember seeing? It can be from any race really but I'd prefer it was one and you could provide a video with English commentary. I'm just really bored so I thought this would be a good idea, thanks.

Thierry Marie winning the stage to Le Havre in 1991 in a lone break comes to mind as a great ride (nearly 260km). Probably a boring watch though. Stage 14 of the 1997 tour (won by Virenque) would be a better watch. The following highlights last about 25mins

Good call meat puppet
canc 2007 tour stage
canc 2010 ronde
canc 2010 roubaix
canc 2011 e3
canc 2011 ronde
canc 2011 roubaix last attack

From this year Kiriyenka Finnestre and Andy Schleck 18 werethe best rides by far.

The attacks that I enjoyed the most were Contadors 3 attacks on 16 and the one on 19 as they were both so unexpected and livened up a boring race.

I'm partial to Sastre's Alpe D'Huez in 2008, there are not all that many last climb of a GT leadership changes.
As for the Floyd question, put it this way name me another long solo break where the GC contenders didn't pull back time on the final mountain. You can't (or I can't). Sastre went over pulling back 30-40 seconds or maybe a minute, Cunego and Moreau pulled back a few seconds and that was it.

As for the chase it seemed like Arroyo was left on the front for the whole of the Columbiere. CSC, in particular, held back for the flat between there and Joux Plane.

well they still erased a gap of 4 minutes in the last 40 kms from floyd,he had at one time 9:20 because caisse d'epargne didn't want to chase no more.i'm absolutely sure that if they would have started to chase him hard earlier, they would caught him or at least minimize the losses at two-three minutes.

yes his performance was extreme but so were others in that tour.on joux plane he lost time just to sastre and moreau.of course there are other examples of riders going solo putting time on the other gc contenders from a breakaway:virenque, rasmussen, sella.not on everyone but almost
also the scorching heat probably helped,i've never seen something like that ever again with a rider cooling his engine so much.floyd used to love those 40 degrees.
the thing is just as you know, floyd told everything, really everything.still nothing particular about stage 17.

The best ones in recent years have been Sella on Manghen, Kiryienka on Sestrières, Rujano winning stages of the Vuelta a Colombia solo by minutes after doing all the chasing himself with most of his team DNFed, Cancellara winning the Worlds ITT in Mendrisio.

For pure awesomeness, you have to go a long way to beat Joaquím Rodríguez on Montelupone in 2008, made everybody look like they were standing still and took as much time out of people in 600m as we got in the Pyrenées in their entirety in the 2011 Tour. And then he went and did it again in 2009!
