Bike Pure refused press access to Tour Down Under

Not worthy.

They ripped off cycle sports drug free sport wristbands and operate as a self appointed spokesman for all cyclists.

Putting a few interviews on a website doesn't make them a journalist. They have at least 1 'role model' with a less than 'pure' past.

Richard Moore would be better placed looking at how pure Skys riders are or is he not allowed to ask the questions.....

Worries me that the TDU is becoming less about being a bike race and more about a being a celeb show. This will happen when you have to pay all of athletes to attend. Problem being you can't control every aspect of the media. The more you try to control it the news leaks. It will be interesting to see how Armstrong & the TDU handle the media. I mean someone will have to ask a question about his drug use.....

Australia is becoming America 2.0

Just see the recent Oprah trip for evidence. As a country, they are losing the plot. Crocodile Dundee must be spinning in his grave.

sounds like the reading between lines that aren't there...
they're not a media group and therefore weren't granted media accreditation
that isn't rocket surgery, now is it.

have to agree with bobbins about oprah though. country's women go spastic over some self important fat cow...

That part seems legit, but you would think that for the sake of PR they'd throw them a media pass.

TDU does seem to be becoming more of a show than a bike race, though...

Why would a bike race deny potential coverage of any sort? It ain't the superbowl.

There's enough 'jornalists' from proper cycling mags who are just in it to free-load and get their reports by copying and pasting others. As least the TDU is restricting things to proper journalists as fas as they can tell.

Throw a couple of hungrey live salties in the middle and watch them run. Then call Hogan to the rescue. make good TV news and may even pay his tax bill.

Maybe someone will release naked photos of Aussie cyclists until they allow Bike Pure back in the event?

pffft! no one would care unless it was of Nikki Fisher

as for the rest, did anyone actually read the full article from the link?
the comments from the TDU make fine sense...

He's not dead - he IS however fighting a long-winded tax investigation by the ATO. He won the case but now is sueing for about $10m in Legal fees.... strange but true

Looking at their website, I can't see any race reporting whatsoever. So why do they need or deserve a press pass?

No conspiracy here.

Well, we all know how strong the Australia omerta mafia are...

Actually I don't. Are you being ironic or honest?

Do you mean the institutionalized practices of the AIS? The closed group of stompers from your own mini continent? Government implications?

To be honest, I don't know much about the Oz scene. Apart from what I've learnt from ex-teammates, and they seem to enjoying convincing everyone that they occassionaly wrestle kangaroos and can drink more than any other group on the planet. Oh yeah, they like punching people in the head and feel that Aussie Football is the only Man-Sport left...

Actually that sounds like a pretty good resume. You might be calling out the Canadians, though. They seem to like wrestling bears, and actually drinking more than any group on the planet. They also seem to like kicking people when they're down, and (oddly enough) argue that the guys at the local pub are actually tougher than hockey players (apparently the guys at the pub are the ones who do the kicking).

In my books, tough call...

Regardless, the 'cross season is almost done. When in the hell does the road season start? This self-imposed idiocy is starting to wear thin...

wtf? Bike race ? this is paid training by design. A hemisphere trick. Media and celeb is what they are banking on. News leaks..this isn't a wiki race it;s announced with as much fanfare and fluff as humanly posibble. Yes people will ask about Novizky and his travel expenses, and Landis and ebay bikes and Robbie and if the fight is still on..and then they will get a rub out and a beer after that 2 minutes is over. celebs will come out for the weather and the lack of terror threat..not for the racing. Plus the Aussies have good seafood..bike race..nobody is there for the bike race..get a Coopers and chill. Thge TDU is a fun ride w a prize list..not to be raken seriously

Ah I was just referring to the incidents prior to the Worlds.

I think there is a reason (well there's actually 2 million reasons...) why HWSNBN is making this his final international race. He is very well looked after, the local press will treat him like a saint. You will not here anything negative about the man for a week in January. We love him.

BP get denied a press pass because they are not a media organisation

they are an advocacy organisation who do a bit of sales on the side

only media require a press pass. you do not get a press pass to promote sales of tshirts and wristbands

also, you dont need a press pass to get interviews at the TDU, any punter can talk to the riders at the hotel

You're thinking of Paul Hogan, the actor, not the original crocodile dundee his part was based on. The cops shot him a few years ago. It wasn't a knife, it was a gun.

the Canadians win simply because of their proudest moment in history: they're the only country to have invaded the US and burnt it's captial to the ground...

Well IMO that's even more of an Epic Fail as they let the US grow back. Should've gone Roman and salted the place, Carthage style. Honestly, you want a job doing properly...

Bit difficult seeing as the War of 1812 was fought by the British. Canada didn't exist as a country until 1841.

I'm sure the fanboys can't wait until Lancey-poo does his contractual break, and they can all oooh and ahhh about how great he is and how 3 seconds at the front justify his 2m fee. Not to mention all that awareness.

try telling that to the Canadians

same sh*t as Australia - not formed as a country til 1901, yet somehow celebrated 200 years back in 1988...
