Its time for cyclists to get off the roads and follow their own independent routes. I have been riding a bike now for around 50 years and have become progressively disinclined to share my journey with impatient drivers of 2 tons or more of high speed metal, who are more likely to look at their phone, rather than focus on what their vehicle may possibly collide with in the next split second. We need as many cycle ways as highways, although I guess the bike industry can't influence government policy the way the multi billion pound/dollar car industry can?

Move to Colorado. I could not find the total mileage of bike trails but must be in the thousands. My housing development alone advertises it has 48 miles of trails. Of course it helps that tourism is a major business here.
