Bizarro story of cyclist hitting a Harley rider

The story does does not make much sense. Hog riders don't like us much.

This past Sunday about 2 miles from home I was on a 2 lane, 50mph county road. As I come to a long (1 mile) straight away, I spot two pedal bicycles riding one behind the other on the right side of the road with no oncoming traffic. I start to close the distance and slow down to 30 mph and move all the way over to the center line and go for the pass. I remember starting to overtake the rear bike when all of the sudden I feel like a have been body slammed and I’m off the V-Rod rolling down the road. I rolled about 8 times, and bounced my helmet off the road each time. I come to a stop and just lay there in the road, doing the mental body damage feel. My left ankle is hurting, my right thumb, both knees, and my forearms hurt, nothing seems to be broken as best as I can tell. I take my gloves off then the helmet as this guy comes running up telling to stay calm, 911 was called. He tells me, that he and a lady behind him witness the whole thing and he is an off duty GSO LEO. Tells me the bicycle rider ran into me on purpose, as I was starting to pass them, the bicycle rider just turned right into me. More LEO and the EMS show up and check me out, by this time I’m standing up and limping ok, no life threatening injuries. I have some rash on my forearms, sprained thumb and ankle and small rash spots on my knees. After the EMS guys release me, I get interview by the state trooper. Basically just tell this same story, slowed down and moved all the way over to pass the bicycles and then blam I’m rolling down the road. Because of the GSO LEO being a firsthand witness, they charged the spandex wearing ******* with aggravated assault, took him away cuffed in the back of a squad car. I was wearing a Shoei RF1100 helmet, worked as advertized. First Gear mesh jacket, worked good for a mesh jacket, have very light road rash on both forearms. First Gear riding boots, without the boots EMS guys think I would have broken my ankle. And gloves, don’t remember which brand they are like 5 years old and did the job, hand are perfect. But, I was only wearing jeans, I got lucky on two small quarter sized road rash on each knee, both hips and my *** are black and blue. Because a pedal bike is considered a pedestrian, and has no insurance, it goes against my policy. I will have the right to take him court and sue him if he has any assets, he might, was 45, and had what I was told is an expensive bicycle. As of today I feel really good, ankle is back to normal I can run on it, knees have just about healed, forearms still hurt a bit. Did I say I ****ing hate bicycle riders!!!

Estimate to repair the V-Rod is 5,700 in parts plus paint and labor, will take 7 to 10 weeks.

It makes no sense at all. The only way the cyclist could force a crash would be to cross his front wheel, in which case the moto rider should have seen the move. WTF? If he was going 30, and let's say the cyclists were doing 17-25, how could a cyclist make this happen? I don't see it.

that would be impossible. I don't know too much about physics, but can pretty much be sure that the cyclist would be worse off. Sounds like an advert for Shoei helmets.

Some peeps gotta make stuff up for message boards to make themselves feel important.

Further down the page on the harley board thread, there is this:

Yes, bicyclist went down. The LEO think he was just trying to scare me, misjudged and hit me.

Right, sure. I really think that is likely. Sounds to me more like anti-cyclist bias at work.

Most likely the Harley rider hid the cyclist as he was possibly moving to ride abreast. Possibly changing his story to shift advantage to his side in court?

I feel infinitely more stupid for having read that, but I bothered to waste a few minutes looking on google, and there's not a single mention of a bicyclist being charged around his location, but plenty of motorbike riders. Unless he's claiming a media conspiracy against him, I'm calling bs. But it's disturbing to see the general attitude on there.

"they charged the spandex wearing *******"

"Did I say I ****ing hate bicycle riders!!!"

I bet he hated cyclists long before he made his story up! Bikers like to think that they are somehow "toughguys" but this idiot has made himself look like the complete opposite, being taken out by a middle aged guy on a push bike! Also as a cyclist, would you risk damaging your expensive road bike trying to scare or knock off a biker on a big, heavy motorbike?

If this isn't pure BS then I'm with you ExRower.

Thanks for doing that research, I was thinking of looking myself. Still the cops could have taken the cyclist in, and ended up not charging him. But, yeah, my thinking is that something smells bad in this mess.

Ask the police they'll tell ya, bikers aren't as big a problem as cyclists.

Those cyclist bars where they hang out selling knock off spandex and Chinese EPO are a constant source of trouble.

Utter 'horse hockey'.
