The story does does not make much sense. Hog riders don't like us much.
This past Sunday about 2 miles from home I was on a 2 lane, 50mph county road. As I come to a long (1 mile) straight away, I spot two pedal bicycles riding one behind the other on the right side of the road with no oncoming traffic. I start to close the distance and slow down to 30 mph and move all the way over to the center line and go for the pass. I remember starting to overtake the rear bike when all of the sudden I feel like a have been body slammed and I’m off the V-Rod rolling down the road. I rolled about 8 times, and bounced my helmet off the road each time. I come to a stop and just lay there in the road, doing the mental body damage feel. My left ankle is hurting, my right thumb, both knees, and my forearms hurt, nothing seems to be broken as best as I can tell. I take my gloves off then the helmet as this guy comes running up telling to stay calm, 911 was called. He tells me, that he and a lady behind him witness the whole thing and he is an off duty GSO LEO. Tells me the bicycle rider ran into me on purpose, as I was starting to pass them, the bicycle rider just turned right into me. More LEO and the EMS show up and check me out, by this time I’m standing up and limping ok, no life threatening injuries. I have some rash on my forearms, sprained thumb and ankle and small rash spots on my knees. After the EMS guys release me, I get interview by the state trooper. Basically just tell this same story, slowed down and moved all the way over to pass the bicycles and then blam I’m rolling down the road. Because of the GSO LEO being a firsthand witness, they charged the spandex wearing ******* with aggravated assault, took him away cuffed in the back of a squad car. I was wearing a Shoei RF1100 helmet, worked as advertized. First Gear mesh jacket, worked good for a mesh jacket, have very light road rash on both forearms. First Gear riding boots, without the boots EMS guys think I would have broken my ankle. And gloves, don’t remember which brand they are like 5 years old and did the job, hand are perfect. But, I was only wearing jeans, I got lucky on two small quarter sized road rash on each knee, both hips and my *** are black and blue. Because a pedal bike is considered a pedestrian, and has no insurance, it goes against my policy. I will have the right to take him court and sue him if he has any assets, he might, was 45, and had what I was told is an expensive bicycle. As of today I feel really good, ankle is back to normal I can run on it, knees have just about healed, forearms still hurt a bit. Did I say I ****ing hate bicycle riders!!!
Estimate to repair the V-Rod is 5,700 in parts plus paint and labor, will take 7 to 10 weeks.
