Bobridge.....4:10.534

CyclonesHQ Cyclones' HQ
Jack Bobridge has just broken Chris Boardman's individual pursuit world record of 4mins 10.534secs. #tracknats

That's half a second quicker than Boardman...

Btw Dennis did 4:13.39.

Super fast track? Plus I think the conditions suit it in Sydney, hot and 60-70% humidity.

If if you will pardon the pun, fer-no-minal!

How could road really be ruining track as some would suggest? He has just come off a multistage road race in the TDU.

Boardman's WR was superman, that's why many thought it would be unbreakable for a long time (once the rules were revised).

Boardman was 28 when he set that mark, Bobridge is 21.

Even considering the fast track, it's still an amazing time.

How will anyone beat Australia in the Olympic TP now?

This might put an end to the discussion on the Tour of Qatar forum about someone like Boonen or Cav laying down a decent 4k prologue to take the leaders jersey. Jacky Bobby's on the provisional start list, so if he brings those legs all he has to do is stay upright you'd think.

That is a truely amazing time

I'm stunned. The UCI has stolen a mighty IP battle from us at the 2012 Olympics. Thomas vs Phinney vs Bobridge

Amazing that its the first time in all those years that its been humid at a race meet.

Great ride Jack, well done.

Stunning from a rider who is just 21. This quartet + meyer may prove to be the most golden generation of them all. Those Brits must be running scared for London now. Take that Brailsford.

Dennis might get in on the action too... and even Hepburn. The UCI really screwed the pooch on this one. It's a tragedy.

I was at the track and the heat before, when Dennis caught Durbridge was a phenomenal ride.

Jacks ride was simply stunning, everyone was on their feet it was awesome.

Ridiculously hot inside that velodrome but such a great ride. The final Bobridge v Dennis was a great race. Bobridge put 1.5 seconds into Dennis by the 2nd km but by the 3rd km Dennis was half a second infront. Was a great race with Bobridge getting home.

Definitely been robbed of a great race at the 2012 Olympics.

Bobridge, Meyer, Denis and Hepburn are surely going to give the world team pursuit record a shake...Assuming that is the best team...Over the next few years we've also got Durbridge, T. Meyer, Parker etc.

It also makes me wonder if in the teams pursuit, someone like Leigh Howard would be better as the fourth man. He would be a bit quicker, and could be the rider to drop off (the other three being Bobridge, Meyer, and Denis?)

Well, anyone can see that Australia would be favourites at this stage. UK have to set a 3:55 at worst in Manchester.

The Australian 5 for the TP (for London) will be Bobridge, Meyer and then 3 of Parker, Dennis, Hepburn, Howard and Durbridge.

My Final 4 at this stage would be Bobridge, Meyer, Parker and Dennis.

Meyer is an interesting one as he only came in for the final in Copenhagen and Delhi. If he trains for it he will be in there. It may depend on who gets the nod for the Omnium (I'm thinking Meyer would be the most likely candidate).

Well yeah probably favourites, Bobridge could be in danger of dropping his teamates if he goes a good as that.

Britain has a lot of horsepower though and cant be ruled out just yet. New Zealand might also come to the party, you never know.

Amazing really. It would be so cool (althought, I realize it will not happen) to see the young men of Bobridge & Phinney do a 4K ride-off. Congratulations Jack Bobridge!

Mcquaid put a stop to that match up, and I dont think anybody understands why as of yet apart from the imbecile himself (Mcquaid). I'm still confused by whats happening to track racing.

Its like taking the 1500 metre race out of track and field. Obviously they have a higher caliber of person running athletics though and that clearly makes a difference.

It is cool that we cycling fans can appreciate this even without olympics!

I'm sure we haven't seen all of bobridge or these other young pursuiters!
