Bottom Bracket Help/Confusion

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knew what I should get in terms of measurements? There are so many different ones I have no idea what I'm doing. The bottom bracket area is the part of the a bike I know least about.

Basically I have a 2002 Colnago C40 and am wondering if anyone knows what I should be looking for? I can't take any measurements because it isn't with me.

I'm guessing it's an Italian bottom bracket & Athena's Italian 70mm outboard cups that I need.

The 2002 Colnago C40 BB is an Italian thread BB Shell.

Not sure which Campy Athena BB you're going to use or cranks to be exact.

If the older Square Taper you need the Italian 70x110mm BB

If using the newer Power Torque then you need the 70 Italian thread type:

Hey, thanks for replying + the message too.

It will most likely be this Athena gruppo - http://www.comtat.co.uk/products/344.htm

It says Campagnolo Power Torque BB outboard Cups there, so I guess I will be looking for a Power Torque BB too? Would the 70x110mm measurements still be the same?

What you need is PowerTorque cups, Italian threading. The bearings are on the crank on the RH side and in the cup for the left. the 110(actually it's 111, square taper BB, last made in 2006) does not apply.

Need these-

Italian threading.

As Busted said, the BB is no more. The cups mount to the frame's BB thread and then the cranks with built in axel and bearings mount to the cups and are then bolted together down the center of the axel.

I can't say I really like it but it works. I will say make sure to apply good amounts of loctite to the bolt and make sure its tighten to spec to make sure it does not loosen up. Also, initially the weird wavy spacer/spring (as they call it) will cause some extra drag on the cranks and it seems to be wrong but it gets reduced later, don't forget it, you need it!

Oh cool, I thought those cups might've negated the need for the bottom bracket but that didn't seem right.

So the ones in the link I linked to will be ok? The Campagnolo Power Torque BB outboard Cups 70mm ones.

Thanks

One last question, this time about chainring BCD.
I was going to get some Rotor aero q-rings, which are only in 130mm BCD. Campagnolo is 135mm, but on the Rotor site FAQ they say that these 130mm rings will be compatible.
How does would this work exactly?

They do have 135mm rings, but not the aero rings.
