Brailsford quits BC

This seems to be an appropriate time for one to give a tip of
the Kask to Sir David John Brailsford CBE and acknowledge
the significance of his ground-breaking research carried out,
in large measure, at the Stuart Street Laboratory.

Let us not forget that his experiments with high cadence
seated acceleration

and best head, neck and spine positions to enable the
maximum delivery of power to the pedals
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jgyq8Zkp10Y
ultimately resulted in this memorable performance

Well done, Sir Dave, and continued success.

For all the people that love to mock him is just like to say a massive well done to DB, his success of Team GB on the track at the last couple of Olympic Games has been phenomenal and they blew everyone else out the water in most events. He was also great at getting under the skin of his counterparts on the track to the extent that the French accused his riders of having rounder wheels on their bikes! :D

It's understandable he know just wants to focus on Sky, where of course he has also enjoyed huge success. It's the right time to step down giving the new person a good 2 seasons before Rio to put their mark on things.

30 Olympic medals between 2004 and 2012.

Cycling has gained over 20% of Britain's medals over those 3 Olympics. (30/142)

That's an amazing return.

Its a good time to go, give his successor time to build for Rio.

The Poms love a the guy in charge and ascribe mythical leadership talents to them. Whether they are there or not.

A la Clive Woodward in the Rugby. Who then went on to be average in another leadership position in a different sport.

Sometimes - more often - its the talent in the team. Not the Guru in the office.

The reason that some of these great track riders came through and are coming through at great rate now is because of the structure and support that Dave has in place. Yes they are the ones that perform but they have been superbly looked after. You don't win as many gold medals as GB have recently with a loser in charge!

GB pick their spots. And Sutton has been around for a long time. And so was Hoy.
It'll be interesting if they put an Australian as a back fill.
