Brake pads for Mavic "Exalith" and Campagnolo "Mille" rims

I have a set of Mavic SLR rims with Exalith hardened surface treatment. Mavic recommend (insist on) hard green pads - (from Swissstop, I believe). I now also have some Camapgnolo Shamal "Mille" rims. Campagnolo insist that I use their blue Mille-specific pads. My understanding is that the two surface treatments are similar (although the milling directions are orthogonal; Campag - around the wheel, Mavic radial across the brake-track.)

Question. Is it OK to use the green Mavic pads (of which I have spares) on the Campagnolo wheels? The blue Campagnolo pads are out of stock everywhere and unlikely to ever come into stock if the blank looks I have received are anything to go by. (I consider it poor form that they would sell the wheels and yet not require that their dealers would stock the only pads upon which they insist.)

Swiss-stop do a blue compound as well, you could email both asking about the other compound and see what they say? Rose Bikes have the Campag blues in stock as do bike-discount.de. I know people who have bought from both and been very happy.
