Any chance they might get some decent non-xenophobic commentators in for a change?

People who know something about cycling would be a start.

Possible that Sky have come in for the Bore of California.

last year they didnt have stuff like the Eneco on the original schedules they released but they did appear as the season went on. I wouldnt take that schedule as final.

Whats happened to the third (or was it the second) biggest tour - it seems to be missing.

Yeah, I hate it when tune in for the jackpot and you get served a rather poor filler instead. Endless wall to wall coverage of some B-race in some obscure part of the world when the real action is elsewhere. And on repeat too, no doubt. I thought we'd moved on a bit from the early days of commercial satellite tv, but it seems like any tourism tom **** and harry can still get coverage for their local koers by either lowering the transmission price enough, or by putting some lubricating cash on the table. I can only imagine what we'll be missing, but I will take it like a man!

:D

Seems to be missing most of the Spanish WorldTour events. No San Sebastian, Pais Vasco, or Catalunya.

04/04-09/04: Tour of Basque Country, LIVE TBC
OK, TBC, but one thing is cast in stone.
Etb will host live coverage.

I hadn't noticed this and G-W were listed as TBC.

More worrying them showing Lance's carnival as a result.
Fickle, these Planet Armstrong fans.

For me it's San Sebastian, but knowing Mellow I'm guessing he's talking about the ToC in jest.

Of course. It has to be Lance's Californian Carnival.
Who needs a handful of Euro peasants watching to make the 4th GT a global sensation in anycase?;)

There are other omissions as others have pointed out.
I see that the Criterium International is also an absentee, next year.
Of course, someone won't be there, this year.

The two most important races are missing - Eneco Tour and Tour of Poland!

What a shame!

The third most important is there at least....Tour of Turkey. Tour of Qatar will be on Eurosport 2 according to eurosport.com

Looks pretty bare after the Tour. No San Sebastian, which I swear I've seen on TV before.

Hope the TBC comes off Pais Vasco + Gent-Wev.

as i say, last year they missed about 6 races off the schedules that later appeared on eurosport. I wouldnt read too much into this at all.

This is their original list for 2010:

EUROSPORT 2010 SCHEDULE

February
7-12 Tour of Qatar
March
7-14 Paris-Nice
10-16 Tirreno-Adriatico
20 Milan-San Remo
25-28 World Track Championships (Copenhagen)
April
4 Tour of Flanders
11 Paris-Roubaix
18 Amstel Gold Race
21 Flèche Wallonne
25 Liège-Bastogne-Liège
May
8-30 Giro d'Italia
16-25 Tour of California
June
6-13 Dauphiné Libéré
July
3-25 Tour de France
August
29-Sept 19 Vuelta a Espana
September
29-Oct 3 World Road Race Championships (Melbourne)
October
10 Paris-Tours
16 Tour of Lombardy

A lot of things not on that list that they showed. This years list is not gospel by any means i dont think.

Damn it.
That ***** Carlton Kirby said Eurosport was buying more races this year. So i was thinking, mmm, some of those cobbled classics like Bjarnste something or other and kbk, San Sebastian, Vuelta Colombia.

Instead all i see is less races. Where are the Canadian races:eek: GP Jens Voigt is a really good race, as its only 2 days, so riders might as well go for it. Even Cali would be good as its on before i go to bed. Not used to watching cycling at 11.

This sucks.

Kirby lied.

As said above. Look at last years press release. The Canadian Races werent on that either, nor was Eneco etc and they showed them all. I would pay the released schedule very little credance. The press release is an initial schedule and EVERY YEAR Cycling weekly post it as gospel and final when it isnt. Same every single year. I dont even bother looking at it now.

Yes your right. They probably will show those races. Maybe not gp jens voigt though. I remember last year on Planet Lance they proudly announced they will show that race after it turned out both Lance and Contador were going.

But my point that Kirby lied is still valid. Where are the extra races which eurosport buys with their supposed increased viewing figures in road cycling. All i see is the same races. Granted they show most of the good stuff, but since they said they would show new stuff i expected 1 of - TDU/North Belgian cobbled races/ San Sebastian.

They used to always do Poland, but I don't think they've ever shown Eneco.

Also, happy at the 'loss' of the TOC. Should get them to take down the hype a few dozen notches. I do hope Eurosport make a u-turn on the Canadian races though.

Lets face it. most of us watch EVERY race anyway on sporza or whatever other feed is available. There was only ONE race last year that Sky raced that i didnt find some coverage or other of.
