Bryan Vogel (Creator of Icarus Documentary) on Joe Rogan

Vogel is acting painfully naive in certain parts, maybe wilfully. Rogan doesn't call him out on it which is annoying since he definitely knows better.

But there is still some interesting information. What I didn't understand from the documentary was why the Russians doped all their athletes during the Sochi Olympics and went to so much trouble with swapping the dirty urine etc. Since they (and most other big countries) are perfectly capable of doping their athletes beforehand in such a way that they will never test positive at the Olympics.

Apparently the answer is that the Russians wanted to "sweep the Olympics", so they went full *** on the doping and ways to circumvent the testing. According to Vogel China did the same in Beijing. So if that is the modus operandi of dominating your home games, it would be interesting to know what happened in London or Sydney for example.

Two minutes in, Fogel repeats the "most tested athlete" mantra.

Here's me tuning out.

What's even lazier and ignorant is the "he destroyed people's lives" mantra.

Or Canada for Vancouver 2010?

Arguably, the correct way to rank nations is by total Golds, not total medals. Hilariously, the Canadian networks decided to rank by total medals, thinking there was a chance Canada would do better that way. Turns out Canada had most Gold, but fewer in total..

Gotta love Pavlov.

" Most tested athlete." (subject 'quickly tuning out')

"He destroyed peoples' lives." (subject [C. Bassons] loses mouthful of coffee on new iPad screen, but concedes later that Lance A. did " look at him hard.")
