Cadence sensor

I'm looking to substitute my current cadence sensor, since strapping or taping it onto the pedal arms just isn't reliable when doing cyclo-cross.

Currently I'm pretty stuck, since the market is either "cheap" strap it on the pedal arms or "bleed that debit-card" for garmin vector or something similarly expensive.

Any suggestions? Or should I just epoxy the sensor to the inner curve of the pedal arm live with it?

Cheers, sage

If you have hollow pedal spindles, or spindles with an allen key attachment, you can insert/epoxy a rare earth magnet in there. That is if you also have 15mm wrench flats as well if you are going to need to remove the pedals from the crank arm any time. Then just re-align the sensor to track with this new magnet.

I've used Shoe Gloo and no magnet has yet to fall off and I am able to remove the magnet and Goo without much effort not leaving a trace that it was ever there. Then again on one bike I used the double stick tape provided by Garmin and never used the tie around the crank arm as I think it looks hideous!

Shoe Goo is a great idea. I've actually been using similar stuff called Goop (the marine version) to secure my sensor mounts on all my bicycles for the last ten years now.

If you are talking about the magnet, I always use one that comes with a bit of adhesive on the back, and a hole for a zip tie. I've never lost one like that.
