I saw the video and wonder how he kept getting on the wheels. Do europeans really accelerate slow enough for a cyclist to keep up and catch up? You need a pretty tall gear too with a 62 / 11 and a 25 mm tire you could pedal 140 rpm to go 100 KPH
Same rpm but 53 chain ring at 140 rpm is 85KPH
I have a 53/12 as my largest gear and 140 rpm at 78.3 KPH seems ridiculous as 125 rpm is more like what i can turn or my max gear is around 70 KPH. That makes it impossible for me to go highway except when the vacuum from the truck can carry me. Didn't the bike have flat bars? I really have my doubts that he was doing 100. As soon as the cop got on scene and the rider went off the draft his speed did fall very quickly to like 40 KPH from the police monitor. The police car was doing over 100 in pursuit but as soon as the cop caught up the cyclist got off the draft right away so we don't really know how fast he was riding?

Looking at the video, my guess is the road is down hill and the cyclist doesn't really need to pedal to keep up. Down a hill well and truly possible if you're willing to sit stupid close behind a van. Getting on the wheel would be tricky though. On the flat no way, would just have to spin far too fast for far too long.
