Dear Mark

It is indeed wonderful that you stayed on to help your fellow countrymen in India. It would have been even better had we found this out from some other source, rather than you trumpeting it to demonstrate what a man of the people you are... "I was even wiping his back...". It says a lot that you need to alert the cycling world to this act of humanity, rather than just do it, without praise or acknowledgment, and if it comes out later, through another source, then it might mean something.

And to be whinging about your sponsorship people - not sure you know how hard it is out there to secure sponsorships, but I'd suggest your big cob isn't helping them in their task. What say you just ride your bike and let it do the talking. It seems every time you open your mouth you say something stupid.

Oh, and maybe continue to demonstrate more humanity - without telling the world about it. Just some advice for what its worth.

I heard about it from another source, about a week ago actually. It was all over twitter and other cycling sites. I guess he was asked about it for the more recent article.

You may not like the media image of Mark C, but you say you do not like HIM? Do you know him? Have you ever met him? Do you think the media reported his quotes verbatim? Did they convey Mark C's intentions? You people who jump to conclusions about people famed through the media jump to some very scary conclusions. In Thailand, where I live, the media distortion of Thaksin, for example, means that many people love him to pieces and would die for him. They love his media image and ignore the fact that actually, he could be compared to Saddam Hussain and other world despots because of the nasty things he has been responsible for in Thailand. Mark may be a really nice guy or a cycling despot, I don't know. What I do know is that his achievements - the best ever by a British bikie - are to be hugely admired. So don't jump to conclusions about people you really don't know, eh?

Exactly right.

Why would a sponsor want to invest in this ungrateful little p-r-i-c-k.

Cav's priority list
1.Being the centre of attention

Oh wow, another Cavendish thread. Isn't he lucky to be getting all this attention?

Exactly, do we actually need all of these threads especially as many of the posts aren't adding anything of any worth to the discussion?

The press ask him questions until he says something they like and he is under a lot of pressure to say something they want to hear.
It is called publicity. I think for a young Sprinter he is well versed in speaking to the press and that meets the approval of his sponsors.
Ianfra says it well
and the rat, well he gets paid to win and promote the team which he does very well and for that he gets paid probably less than if he went to Skyy for this season.
I saw him in India and he was going about helping the team quietly but not without notice. He may be reported as saying those thing unsolicited but he was asked what he was doing helping out, so he told his side.
We don't get the reporters questions in these stories just the Quotes that the reporters sell.

You Cav bashers are a joke. With all the liars and cheats in this sport, we need riders that:
1) Are honest
2) Dont dope
3) Are passionate about the sport
4) Attract media attention
5) Are exciting to watch
6) Are the best in the world
He checks the box on all 6 of the above. I dont know any other rider in the Pro Peleton that does, except for Cancellara perhaps. A few rough edges around the media is hardly worth criticizing. He's a diamond for our sport.

I love points 1 & 2 in the post above mine.

Of all the things Cav has said and done, these comments don't even rank in the top fifty most controversial. He's a spectacularly fast and equally annoying little man, but these comments are so vanilla they don't even raise an eyebrow.

Thanks for another random Cav thread, not sure what he did wrong this time?

I tick three for Cav...

If the forum software had strikeout I would be able to show which ones!
