Looks like Sky changes a couple of suppliers to accommodate Cavendish's arrival. Bye bye Deda & Prologo, hello PRO & Fizik.

I do like Cav..reminds me of Cipo, sort of. He looks really good in the WCS jersey.

AND he has a proper Italian company frame instead of that scott plastic. Needs either Di2 or EPS tho..sram need not apply. Sky is too smart for that.

Sky uses Di2.

Which, btw, I test rode the Ultegra version of...I'm in love with the hood shape. Slimmer than mechanical Shimano, and perhaps a bit more curvy. In fact, I think my hands find them more agreeable than Campy...

Jealous that Cav can still get Nike shoes, bought some cheap a few years back, probably the best fitting shoe I have owned. Too bad they got mangled when I was hit by a car. :(

I wouldn't go that far, but it is refreshing to see just the jersey rather than full on "rainbow ***"

Que?

I owned 3 pairs. Great shoes. Made by DMT.

I like Pinarello bikes, but they're just another Taiwanese-made frame. Nothing really Italian about them except the price tag.

Why? Save Campy for Colnago.

Pinarello's not made in Italy. Neither is Shimano. So they fit well together.
Always amuses me when people talk of Campag & Colnago being the only way.

Funny thing is Ernesto's bikes have had Shimano on them more than Campag for nigh on 20 years. Mapei, Rabobank, Wordperfect, and Ariostea all were Dura Ace!

The design and testing is done in house by Pinarello. The geometry and size ranges are typically Italian as well. Even their entry level bikes come in 9 - 10 sizes.

Better than most other brands that build their frames in Asia (still terrible value for money though)

Does it matter where it is made? What genetically makes an Italian better at building a bike than a Taiwanese? I have about 6 bikes with Campagnolo and love them all (even the croce daune which clearly doesnt work) but you have to admit in the 90s it was shimano who made the leaps in technology. I understand its nice when people actually manufacture the bikes they put the stickers on but taiwan or turin doesnt make any odds.

Are we past the "where things are made" chauvinist ideology yet? the only thing one might conclude from your dogmatic statements is that perhaps you are a racist? no offense but it is the only logical deduction. can you offer any significance to you claims besides personal bias?

I sincerely hope the the sheer idiocy of your post is a temporary aberration and not an accurate reflection of your intelligence.

If you're willing to pay the same price for a suit made in China as you would for a suit handmade in Italy, then I guess not. De gustibus non disputandum.

By the way, experience is not genetic. Lamarck's theory of inheritance of acquired characteristics was largely refuted long ago.

<removed offensive comment> I hate explaining myself twice.

Indicating a preference for a country's goods isn't racist, you simpletons. Are fans of German cars racist? Are fans of Italian suits racist? Swiss watches?

Goods are made in China for two basic reasons: mass production to achieve economies of scale and cheap labor. Do I prefer buying products from a country with reasonable intellectual property protection, environmental laws, labor legislation, livable wages, and a history of quality products?

Yes, I do. If that makes me "racist" in your stunted view of the world, I can't help you.

How many instances have there been of horrible quality products coming in from China? Countless: Cadmium in kids' toys, terrible drywall, lead in paints, etc.

If you still don't think it matters where things are made, I hope you enjoy reading the copy of the Beijing Times that's inside your Chinarello's fork.
