The good folks at Rodale had the good sense to disassociate themselves with the Junior Doper-Upper and dumped him from Bicycling Magazine. So now Armstrong's cover story is spreading his words o' questionable wisdom over at Hi Torque with Road Bike Action.

Zap, Zap, Zap...

How could they think this is a good move? If it is to be believed that CC didn't know the truth about Armstrong, you gotta wonder "Why the hell not?!"

It is pretty easy to understand when you see who the editor is, one of the chief pushers of the myth Tim Maloney

I love this he has to say in his first interview with RBA:

"Still, I’m convinced that Lance won the Tour de France seven times. I think it’s important to consider the totality of a person and Lance did an awful lot of good. I know he trained hard and did the work. It’s hard to go back and change things. It’s unfortunate that the sport has this history, but one thing I’m most proud about of my time with 7-Eleven is that it never took place there"

The omerta lives.

Carmichael says he never doped as a pro, never doped any athletes, never saw ANY doping. Really!? Nothing to see here. Wasn’t he in the hospital room when Lance admitted doping? Come on, as 'U.S. Olympic Coach of the Year' he must have known about Lance's doping. To top it off, CC’s still holding onto the myth… “Lance won 7 TdFs and has done a lot of good”. Good for his bank account no doubt. In the real world, Lance is the winner of zero TdFs and has done more harm than good. Go away Carmichael. Road Bike Action Magazine sucks.

On a related note, I was bummed to see the Carmichael logo on a box of Gu energy gels I ordered. Turns out they are partners.

It’s important to us that our partners share our commitment to quality and performance

I contacted Gu twice to get their reasoning for the partnership in light of articles like this but have received no reply.

Bummer, since I liked their flavors.

Darn. Now I gotta boycott that stuff. I liked it. What are good alternatives?

Bummer. I knew Zap back in the motocross/mowhawk days of the early 1980's.
He was a good guy then... I betting he's a good guy now.

Hopefully this decision was made above his pay grade.
