Also, when did it happen? He was in TdL until, well... today! Pretty sure PCS had him listed as French, with his old name on the startlists originally.

It's pretty common for athletes that receive Turkish citizenship to also get new Turkish names. The Nigerian footballer Uche Okechukwu, who played for Brøndby in the 90s, became Deniz Uygar, for instance.
