So much so that they are saying they might even cancel the race:

Arrived in Varese on holiday today, specifically to see Tre Valli, and Lombardia later in the week.

It's been raining constantly and is set to continue. Possible the race won't go ahead now :weary:
I think the most thrilling thing about this race will be watching the weather forecast and seeing if the race takes place to begin with. :(

Please keep us posted seeing as you are already in the area!

Why can't they delay the race for 24 hours.

The local people might not like it too much if the roads are closed for an extra day. Shocking as it might sound, not everyone is a cycling fan.

There's also the possibility that the roads might simply not be passable tomorrow either, and if they are, they might need to be kept free for emergency vehicles.

Origin of the cancellation rumours is a Dutch Wielerflits article, and the only source it's based on is the weather forecast.

Hey, @Berniece.
Maybe change the thread title to "103rd Tre Valli Varesine, October 8"... or, we could just... keep the title, but continue talking about TVV here...

The weather is awful, some roads are already flooded in the Milan area so I presume it's the same in Varese.

Well, the women's race is on, so unless the weather worsens significantly, the men's race will probably also go on as planned.

Not many will be on the roads today if the weather forecast is correct.

That thread title is good for practising your maths skills. Ok, the 1st Tre Valli Varesine was held in 1919. It was cancelled for 2 years during WWII and also missed a year because of the COVID pandemic. SO that must mean the 103rd Tre Valli Varesine is..............the 2024 edition.

Men's race shortened by 2 laps.

Better idea IMO is to just do 1 full lap after Pogacar takes off and take the finisht here
What's the point of shortening the route by 2 laps? Do they expect way more rainfall in those last 2 laps?
