Could Froome end it Wednesday?

Wednesday sees the first Time Trial of the Tour and this could be the day that Froome if he doesn't end it comes close. He put a 1.06 on Valverde at the Tour De Romandie and Contador has not looked good on a TT bike this year. Will Froome end the tour as a contest on Wednesday? I think that's within the realms of possibility that he does.

What do the rest of you think?

No, but only because you never know when he's going to have a day like Richie Porte did today.

That being said, I do expect him to increase his lead on Wednesday.

Before stage 9 I would have said maybe. A lot of people were saying it was Tour over after Saturday, not just on here but in the whole cycling world.

Yesterday showed that there is a weakness to Sky this year, however Froome remains strong and the others have to break him. Today would have given Contador ect some hope.

There is a chance that Froome would take 2 minutes on some rivals in the TT if he absolutely nails it. This would leave most needing around 4 minutes, its a big amount of time to make up but 1 bad day and Froome could lose it all quite easily. Easier said than done of course...

Shortest Tour in history

This will be the shortest Tour de france in history. Froome is just to good for the peloton. on 9. stage you could see Valverde and Contador was battling for second place. Embarrassing.

He'd need to put 2 minutes into the top 5 and he won't. From Dauphine he finished 1:40 up on Moreno, I think Mollema, Contador, Valverde, Quintana, would normally TT better than Moreno.
He'll move further ahead, but not put it beyond doubt, that'll take a few more mountains.
In the TT Evans might surprise, he isn't in horrible form and looks heavy, which sometimes means, slow in the mountains fast in the TT.

No matter how well he does he has to make it to Paris safely.

I think that barring a positive doping control, sudden illness (like Tejay had), or a crash he appears unbeatable.

If he stumbles, Valverde and Contador are worthy competitors who will surely attack any sign of weakness.

Contador showed that he won't be likely to wait in the case of a mechanical failure or gear-changing mishap when he attacked Schleck a cuple years back.

Quintana - in my opinion, will make it difficult for everyone in the Alps.

There are plenty of miles, climbs, TT's, and days left for Froome to err.

I would certainly not bet against him, though.

I can't see him ending it, but in front of whom he'll finish should be clear after the time trial.
Hopefully, there won't be that many, so the Tour could keep current suspense.

Plus their is a technical ITT that although they can limit losses I think Froome could take 1 min aswell plus surely he will go all out on the Ventoux and just defend after that. If I was him when Quintana attacked on the last climb I would have shown Valverde up and attacked not to go to the finish but just to mentally brake them. 1 thing for sure Froome will finish 6 mins plus ahead of second place imo.

One thing I expect is for him to take big time on everyone else.

Taking a more pessimistic view, Froome will officially put enough time on everyone else to end the GC battle for first by Ventoux.

Bust as we all know, cycling is unpredictable, so I'm going to adopt the view he won't have ended it until Alpe du Huez at least. Still a lot of racing to come. I am sure we will see much more from Contador then we have thus far. Quintana I am expecting big things from, Valverde as well looks pretty good. I am hopeful for Andy to some stuff. Then there are other guys who I think could still bounce back, and put Sky in some difficulty.

Prophetic words! Sky loked utterly terrible today, the second day in the mountains. Froome was isolated and very fortunate to be as strong as he is and not suffer any type of problem.

Yesterday they looked completely dominant. Today, completely vulnerable.

If the alps prove anywhere near as exciting then this is shaping up to be one of the best tours in recent memory.

I doubt there is much celebrating in Sky's camp during the rest day AND a lot of head-scratching to figure out what happened.

Meanwhile, there is likely much plotting in the other camps and perhaps an alliance or two being forged.

I think Froome will be close to winning the flat TT, lol.

But Movistar's performance yesterday coupled with Saxo's TTT result tells me we might see some surprisingly small gaps between some of the captains.

And watch out for Castro again. He ain't going to be far from the win methinks.

Contador loves rest days, resting works some magic in his body or something so i think contador might surprise even if its a day late.

Ye Froome obviously doesnt need rest days for his body to do magic. But maybe Porte and the rest of the Skyborgs get the magic effect too.

In my opinion he ended it yesterday. If he doesn't lose any time in that situation, I don't see where else he might. He won't even need the ITT.

Could Froome end it Wednesday? No

Froome will not win the tour, his team is to weak.

He will have 3-4 minutes after 2 TT's but will lose 5+ minutes on some mountain stage when his team will fail again. He can get away maybe once more, alone against the rest, but at some point he will collapse because his team will offer to many opportunities riding so bad like yesterday.

I consider the chance of others crushing the dawg in the mountains very slim.
