Well given his form earlier at PN, I'd still think mediocre shape should be enough to stay in the group with the others. Even if he isn't as good as people think (which I don't know how good that is supposed to be, GT Podium?)

Glad to see Bernal up there. His trend continues to improves. Worrying about Dani Martinez. But we'll see if he improves in the high mountains in the following days.

Some guys with a bad TT did OK today. They just know they don't have to face the same TT at the Tour and didn't bother to prepare for it. They just need to be better at the mountains.

This is definitely not Gaudu's normal level. However it might be difficult for him to argue for total support at the Tour now.

So the stage is over, congrats to Vingegaard. He basically toyed with his rivals on that short climb (gaining 35 s) and maintained the gap over the chasing group in the last 17 km. I think the scenario today was set up by Carapaz's early attack. It was strong, as if he had been already in the last km of an MTF. Nobody had a chance (or was willing) to follow, except Vinge for whom it was rather a standard tempo (unfortunately for Richard, who burned his matches in the first half of the climb). So the race seems almost over before it tackles true mountains. Fight for the 2nd place will be interesting with so many contenders. Will the Skeletor test his engine again? Or will he keep his powder dry before the Tour fireworks?

People think Gaudu will be relevant in the Tour just because he beat Vingegaard in PN...

It probably also has something to do with the fact he finished 4th last year, but of course he doesn't stand a chance against Vingegaard and Pogačar. He doesn't have to in order to finish in the top 5 again though.

Interesting stage despite the Vingegaard win. Not that anyone really doubted he'd win the overall, but I didn't expect them to make the stage this hard.

Oh, and I want to express my appreciation for the attacking spirit of Carapaz who's clearly not one of the strongest in the race and tried nonetheless.

I think he has been quite consistent this season to be fair.
