Custom Cycling Shoes

...... well, ... I don't know how many people are in the same boat as me but I thought
I'd give this sub-forum a try to see if they're lurking "out there"--or in here, as the case may be.

I Love Carnac Ellipse Carbons, the old ones; as in 2002 old. I have two pairs and I live in
Alaska and thus only wear road shoes maybe 4 months of the year but alas, . . . I want some new shoes.
I've tried a bunch of stuff, and none of them have that ski racing boot, snug-but-comfy PERFECT
fit as those old School Carnacs.

I've been looking at Rocket 7 and they kind of remind me of Carnacs.

Can anyone help me out with fit comparisons between the two shoes? Particularly,
I'm wondering about how the semi-custom Rocket compare to the Carnac. Also, can they make
a full custom shoe that "just like" my Ellipses?

Cheers and thanks in advance,

Bill

Rocket 7 is out of business. You can try D2 if you want to go full custom. Great reputation. You can also try any of the heat molded versions of shoes out there: Bont, Shimano, Lake, etc. Much cheaper than going full custom.

Rocket 7 is back in business.

D2 would be a good choice.

I've had two pairs of Rocket 7s and they were pretty good shoes. I have Shimano now and they are better. The R315 (current model is R320) are the nicest shoes I've owned. Easy to mold to your feet and the foot bed is perfect. They just strike me as more thoroughly engineered for a foot while cycling. But Rocket is a good shoe too. The Shimano in Wide is a smidgen wider than the Rocket in Wide.

Bont does full custom, too. They accept foot models in various formats.

The normal last for their stock shoes is a bit wide, but they also make narrow.
