Scarborough (WA) to Scarborough (Qld)
Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean
4,500 kms
Whatever way you say it – it is a bloody long way on a bike!!

To Raise Money for the Heart Foundation

2 weeks today, I will be flying over to Perth to start my bike ride from Scarborough (WA) back home to Scarborough (Qld) 4,500 kms.

I am really keen to get going now - it seems to have been so long in the planning, and training, but now the time seems to be rushing by!!

It hasn't all gone smoothly as a week ago I was knocked off my bike while out on a training ride, by a delivery van.

My bike came off worse than me and ended up in "bike hospital". I had a few scratches and bruises but resorted to swimming and running to maintain fitness during the period I was bikeless!!

I have set up a facebook page, it would be great if you could visit it and "Like" the page. I will put regular updates on it throughout my ride!!

There is also a whole lot of information about the route I will take on my website- feel free to check it out!!

You can link to the Heart Foundation donation pages through my website.

Across Australia ride starts this Thursday (31st March 2011) in Western Australia

Today I fly from Brisbane to Perth - have 2 days there to get everything organised - and then at 10:00 am on Thursday 31st March - I will set off on my bike ride across Australia from Scarborough beach - Western Australia - heading east!!!!

The path I will take is firstly across Perth to the suburb of Redcliffe and a stop for a photo at Morgan Park. How amazing that there is a Morgan Park here on the Redcliffe Peninsula, Queensland.

After that - its off to Northam - and a fair few climbs I hear!! Nothing like a testing first day!!

I've had 2 good rides on my new Giant Avail - luv it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ben at Tom Wallace Cycles in Brisbane was soooooooooooooo fussy getting it set up just right for me, and I've been able to get on and ride it with no problems at all. Even the new cleats are a breeze!!!

If there is anyone in Perth who fancies riding a few kms (however far you want) with me on Thursday morning - I'd love it - if so just rock up to Scarborough beach ready to leave at 10:00 am - it would be great!!!

Cheers - Slaoko
