I use my lungs and you better too as there is no oxygen transfer in the stomach.

Seriously belly breathing is not new. But not the only corner of the lungs that get ignored. By pushing your belly out you use your diaphragm more effectively but I did learn that there is still lots of upper lung capacity I was not using. Push your shoulders back and chest out too. I learned this from diving. You use lungs as Buoyancy compensators and I learned I could fill my upper lungs for floatation and still use my lower lungs and diaphragm for breathing.

Also concentrate as much on getting all the air out when you exhale.

You can waste more energy concentrating on pushing your stomach out, etc than any benefit you will get from the added oxygen.

I found the most efficient way to help breathing is long slow exhales to get all the crap out and in with the fresh stuff. But it's of no real benefit until you're under pressure and starting to breathe heavy.

One other thing to watch out for is during max efforts, don't tense up your upper body and therefore your ability to breath. You will run out of steam real fast. This is when you need to concentrate on breathing the most (long slow exhales).

Similar to what INDURAIN said -
Do good 'quick full exhales' to clear your lungs, then just inhale quickly to do good refills. I wouldn't bother with anything that takes much thought or technique.
