Cyclingnews's 2012 predictions

Some of you might remember the thread we had a while back called '2012 predictions'. In this thread you could predict which cyclist would win what race.

I counted those predictions and here's the general consencus.

Olympic Road Race: Cavendish is the overwhelming favourite.
Olympic Time Trial: Tony Martin is the overwhelming favourite.
Worlds Road Race: Gilbert is the overwhelming favourite.
Worlds Time Trial: Tony Martin is the overwhelming favourite.
Team Time Trial: Team Sky is the overwhelming favourite.

Milan-Sanremo:
*** Boasson Hagen
** Boonen, Freire, Cancellara
* Gilbert, Hushovd, Haussler, Goss, Cavendish

Ronde van Vlaanderen:

*** Gilbert
* Boonen

Paris-Roubaix: Boonen and especially Cancellara are the favourites.
Liège-Bastogne-Liège: Valverde and especially Gilbert are the favourites.
Giro di Lombardia:

*** Gilbert, Daniel Martin
** Nibali

Gent-Wevelgem:

*** Sagan
** Boasson Hagen, Boonen, Cavendish
* Greipel, Cancellara

Amstel Gold Race: Gilbert is the overwhelming favourite.
Flèche Wallone:

*** Rodriguez
** Anton, Gilbert, Contador, Evans

Clasica San Sebastian:

*** Samuel Sanchez, Valverde
** Gilbert
* Gesink, Van Avermaet

Paris-Tours:

*** Greipel
** Kittel, Boasson Hagen
* Feillu, Boonen, Goss

Giro d'Italia: Basso is the overwhelming favourite.
Tour de France: Contador is the overwhelming favourite.
Vuelta a Espana: Contador is the overwhelming favourite.

Surprised Jrod is favorite for FW considering he got beaten by both Evans and Gilbert.

And EBH as biggest favorite for MSR? :eek: He's not even the most likely winner from his team!

I voted for Gilbert way less than some lunatics in that thread.

Yes.
Logically, a poll should end up with him favourite to win all the one day races.
Obviously, when lumped together, folks will pick alternatives, simply not to be repetitive.

Personally, I can't see him winning Le/La Tour/Vuelta, or Miss World.............unless the winner tests positive for EPO.
