Lol why start a page for him when he might go to jail and never get signed by another team.
novelty value? :D (hope he gets some help too or at least gets his gun taken away)

It'll probably be mandatory that he get help, and if he's a convicted felon, then he'll never own a gun again.

At least he won a couple stages before his career ended....

Why would he take a gun with him when going for a ride? Is it common, just a habit, or could he actually need it?

Probably no to all, as he tucked it in his jersey, and it wasn't holstered. I think he may have some personal or mental issues that should need to be addressed. As someone in the article section pointed out, if you need a gun to leave the house, it might be best to just stay home.

I know this is the racing thread so I'll keep this brief. There's been 4 shootings in my neighborhood just this year. Point is, there's plenty of places where cops can't be there all the time. I know, touchy subject. Just pointing out that that statement doesn't really make sense in our world.

That said. He had a legal right to carry, but it should have been properly holstered, secured ect. What he did was stupid and idiotic and rightly, so he'll loose his second amendment rights.

I understand how it does work, I'm more waxing poetic on how it should work, and the mentality of someone sticking a handgun in his jersey for a five hour ride. And yeah, this the racing thread, so maybe a mod might want push this to the "general" forum. Cheers!

Okay, I was gonna suggest that maybe the reason he was carrying a gun was because the recent series of car-involved cyclist accidents - and not all of them accidential - had made him kinda scared.
Then I realised/remembered that the incident happened back in February. So... probably not. :p

What a strange strange event. Yes, there are some jerk motorists in the area, but I can't see any reason to have a gun in my jersey while riding in Deer Creek Canyon. I suspect there is more to this story than just having a bad day. I hope Danny comes out of this ok.
