Designing a kit

Hi everyone,

I'm in charge of creating the new cycling kit for my University's cycling team.

However i have zero creativity.

I have a fairly good idea of what I want the kit to look like.. but that's as far as i can get.

I know colours, logos and have a few general ideas.

I REALLY would prefer not to pay for a designer to create something, as it would be money out of my pocket and it would be expensive.

I've tried finding somebody i know with creative talent but so far ended up with nobody who can help.

What should I do?

Anyone here interested in helping out?

Love always,

Nick.

does your university have a Graphic Design or similar course? If so, you could always try posting an open tender in the department for bragging rights!

Have you looked at the usacycling collegiate kit contest from earlier this year? Very intertaining. When it comes to kit design, remember that your university's colors, logos etc need to take primacy over other sponsors, despite how important they are. USA Cycling have some rules regarding this and your conference director has some input. There are some other items to consider. Whenever a photo is taken or a rider is in a race, you want the identity of the team to be seen, which makes the legs, the bib's back panel, the back (from the side) important. The front is for victorious, arms up displays and walking around. You can also establish some sort of team "gestalt" that would make the team identifiable even if the words are unseen (Domina Vacanze during Cipollini's reign, Mapei or La Vie Claire) In US colleges, Notre Dame has claimed plaid, so that might be so last year since argyle was used ad nauseum before hand. Clemson had some sort of Holstein pattern and Millersville (?) had a horror vacui engravers look that is intersting.
Best to not copy a pro tour kit (OU the Shack, our SMU Rock racing of 3 years ago...)

Are you able to show me what you have?

How much would it cost to get somebody to desgin something?
