go with a Chinese knock off you get the same thing for about 75% off.

Is this a serious comment or no, I see threads on other forums where the whole chinese debate rages. I was tempted to get a frame a couple months back and then my money evaporated, but they were like $400 for cf. What suppliers are reliable as far as quality?

yes but i will answer questions via PM to avoid the elitist chest-beating peeps here

I have a 29er carbon rigid and a carbon road bike I'm playing with at the moment. there are trade offs of course.

ummm pretty much made by giant for Performance right?

Despite my opening message I see one of my local stores has the Diamondback road bike fitted with Dura-Ace/Ultegra for 50% off. So I will take a close look (probably tomorrow).

End of the season, beginning of the bike show season...yep, in August, when product starts to change and bikesouttaboxes can be found for big discounts. Particularly DA, since they are 'goin' to 11' in 2013.

Made/sourced by Merida for the wholesale channel. Again, excellent quality as they may be coming off the same lines as a Specialized.

It would come as no surprise if some models were sourced from somewhere else. It's good business to buy from someone else if they can do it cheaper meeting Merida's high standards.

I don't have a problem with out sourcing.

But given the nature of manufacturing and shared molds etc I more inclined to go Chinese carbon off Ebay and just dispose it every year.
