Who would be willing to cover for her though? I know Nike was totally behind her and even made a commercial hyping her up, but then she totally blew it...

She is a very polarizing person/athlete though, I'll give her that.
Yeah, probably too much conspiracy theory on my part. We assume that “silent bans” might exist where athletes avoid competitions for long stretches claiming injury, that this could have been a not-so-silent silent ban;)

I’ve never understood the concept of silent bans. Is the idea that they’re obligated to hand down a ban but don’t have to divulge it legally? If not then why even bother with a ban if it’s all under the table anyway?

I’ve heard them talked about (mostly here in the clinic) in regard to tennis. But tennis organizations seem to acknowledge it’s been a thing:

Others on here are welcome to correct me but I’ve assumed that the purpose was to keep someone known to be doping from competing without tarnishing the players’, and more importantly tennis’s, image.

It's a particularly advanced form of masking agent KB. The idea is you smoke some weed, forget to take your PEDs, the DCOs call round and test you and there's nothing there for them to find. Except the THC. But! And this is the super clever bit! When news of that gets out everyone thinks you're ok and no one thinks you're taking PEDs. Or being coached by Dennis Mitchell.

Today's dopers are so clever that only the Clinic can see through them.

I know better than to trust American sprinters or British cyclists.

And another one, over 2 mins off the female marathon world record.

Absolutely unbelievable progress by Assefa. Last year she actually debuted (!) in marathon with 2h34' time. Then, without any previous significant achievements in long-distance running, she ran 2h15'37'' in Berlin (it was already very surprising and among the best runs in history). This year she smashes it and runs in 2h11'53'' absolutely destroying the previous WR of 2h14'04''. Her best half-marathon pace is worse than this, her best 10k pace (30'52'') is only slightly better than this marathon pace. She basically came out of nowhere regarding long-distance running, no medals, no achievements before last year Berlin marathon. She used to compete in 800 meters a few years back (also at the Rio Olympics).

This Berlin Marathon has always been the dirtiest event in the world. No need to be harsh on the poor African girl, she is clearly just a pawn for the corrupt German organisers and sponsors. Adidas certainly sells a lot of 500 euro shoes after this world record...

Just like in cycling, dead-flat course and moderate weather are important factors for high speed. But this performance is even beyond Berlin performances. It's been a ridiculous progress by this girl.

There's no question that time is ridiculous, but there's also no question that the poor African girl didn't develop some secret juicy on her own that made her a world-beater. The struggling Adidas company, making terrible running shoes that no one buys, now they're launching a new 500 euro shoe in which she's running a world record. It's not hard to put together the puzzle of who is the dirty here...
