True, female artistic gymnastics specifically has become a lot more athletic than artistic and the women do appear to have more muscle than in the past. (Though, at the last Olympics many of the female gymnasts were truly grown women and not some 15 or 16yr.- old pipsqueaks like in the past, so they looked bigger.) But what about figure skating? On the elite level you would just about never see some heavy, musclefreak woman on the ice because the bulk just isn't needed...Gymnastics require more strength and muscle than swimming.
I just find the comparison or connection of very different sports in the article pretty strange. And what I find truly perturbing is a young gal swimmer taking turinabol nowadays when there's plenty of evidence of how much damage it did to the young and still growing female swimmers from the GDR.
