Dropped chain TDF 2010

With all the news about AC and his proposed penalty I have seen the dropped chain incident that Andy Schleck says cost him the 2010 TDF over and over. I have watched the sequence many times and have always wondered why Andy did not stop his bike and put his chain back on. It seems to take him a long time to figure out what is going on even though he is looking at his chain and then he stops and raises his hand to have someone put his chain on for him.

Andy attacks, the race explodes and he cannot get his hands dirty? GO figure but I do not agree with Andy's statements. All bike races need to be won not gifted. If AC does not ride the TDF this year and Andy is the marked man he may learn that lesson.

Uhhh...2010 called. They miss you. I'm waiting now for milk bottles and p****fying replies about waiting for the jersey in a RACE. Bring it, Cycling News.

He tried to fix the chain from his saddle because if he had managed to do it it would have been faster, but your theory of Candy not wanting to get his hands dirty is funnier so I'm appropriating it from now on.

I think its even more pathetic that he still thinks it was a mechanical. He made a beginners error, that's all it was. And then he expects all the others to wait for the almighty Schleck

He will fail in the next Tour, I promise.

It wouldn't have mattered if Alberto would've won with a convincing margin, but it obviously did matter--he only won by the margin he gained by attacking the Yellow Jersey when he was having technical difficulty. Contador has no class and karma came back to bit him in the a**

+1. 2011 and 2012 will be long Tour's for the Contador cleat chasers. Who will their next 'golden water-walking boy' be?

It was no technical problem

You can't say that AC won because of the chain thing. If AC was not in yellow on the Tourmelet, he would have been more agressive and may have won anyway.

In the end it's just a matter of choice of focus. Schleck lost more than 40 secs to Contador in the Rotterdam ITT. He was caught in a group behind Contador's in the stage neutralised by Cancellara. However, he didn't wait the day after on their way to Arenberg when Fränk blocked the road. Add to that 20 more seconds that Contador lost to his group that day in the last kms because of a broken spoke. Yes, Andy had a technical problem: he needs to learn the technique to shift gears.

An alternative point of view might lead us to think that the stage to Spa with no race radio would have never been neutralised by Cancellara. Who was at the front at that moment? We could be speaking now of a Russian TDF winner. He's now probably looking for a new team because his current one has not been invited this year.

good post, on every point!
Schleck seemed a nice guy, but all the crap they keep saying about Sastre and his stupid chain?
He didn't wait in Arenberg, they even ****ed up the whole race in Spa with his team and still the others do not have class? Everybody on this forum seems to agree Schleck made a shift-mistake and still people defend the loser of 2010 TDF?

Of course no mention of the time lost in the prologue or the neutralizing of a stage by Cancellara under the cloak of concern for all the crashed riders but really to save a potentially lost Tour for Andy.
